Very quiet and close to the concert venue. Girl at the desk was very nice and helpful. It wasn't a bad experience but I could have gotten a nice, more modern room for the money.
Liked: Very nice staff.
Disliked: Very old room with an old small TV and hot water faucet didn't work. Moved to another room - it was better but had a creaky floor and a toilet that wouldn't flush properly.

Classic, old hotel - not that bad though.
Liked: Warm, cozy, nice people.
Disliked: Wifi didn't work in our room.

I'm not super picky about hotels but this place was a let down. It was very old and outdated - beds were probably 20 years old, no joke. We had fruit flies everywhere in our room and we had absolutely no food with us. Shower curtain was ripped quite a bit; tub didn't drain well and you usually had to flush twice anytime you used the bathroom because the first time it wouldn't flush. No inside parking so we used the parking garage just down the street. Lots of homeless people hangout around there. It was pretty close to the Darlings Waterfront which is why we booked there. There is a pub on the main floor - not sure how good it is as we didn't bother trying anything there. The room did have A/C which worked good so that was a bonus because other parts of the Inn were really hot, like the stairs and elevator. Overall it served it's purpose for the weekend but I would never book there again. We paid $260 for two nights and I feel that is way overpriced for what we got.
Liked: Very close to Darling's Waterfront.
Disliked: Room wasn't ready at 3pm; fruit flies in the room; very old bed and the whole places needs updated.

Liked: It was in downtown
Disliked: The negatives were I didn't have a working TV, there was no phone in my room to call to front desk, if I wanted a mini fridge (for 120$ a night i should get one) or a microwave i had to rent one, the toliet nearly clogged, and the wall outlets didn't want to keep things plugged in... I was going to ask for some money back for these issues but felt I wouldn't have gotten it...

A night at Charles
Liked: Convenient location
Disliked: Plumbing was very loud and annoying and lobby was noisy. Would not recommend staying on the first floor.

Meh...there are better places to...
Liked: So, this is a 2 star hotel. And really, its only that because of the staff and the attempt at decorating the rooms. Rooms are decked out in Stephen King themes. However, the whole hotel is fairly run-down and junky. It feels like the innkeeper is trying her best to get it painted and better however, little amenitites and quality upgrades would go a long way to make this a 3 star property.
Disliked: First, its pretty run-down and it shows. Carpets are pretty dirty (or at least are so old, they appear so) my bathroom smelled like old urine. The smell was so bad, I didn't shower for two days also I couldn't get very hot water. Unfortunately there is no one on the property until the next day. Little things, like blinds or at the very minimum black out curtains would go a long way to help light filtering in. As it is, there are very thin curtains which do nothing to either block out the street view (I'm quite sure some folks in bangor got a looky at my chi-chis) or filter out the light. Thus, two day of not sleeping.
