Fantastic value, great staff, terrific...

Liked: I walked in to the Castle Hotel and was met by the wonderful Christmas decorations covering the inviting bar, lounge and restaurant. The staff had clearly gone to great trouble and it looked amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my three nights there. I only ate breakfast there but they were excellent with a great menu that offered not just meat and vegetarian options but vegan as well. It really felt like someone had put some thought in to what the Castle Hotel offers.

Great food, basic accommodation, fantastic...

Liked: The food was great and the staff really helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for our visit and we had a great nights sleep on a really comfy bed.
Disliked: The decor is pretty tatty, the room was in need of some tlc, handles missing from wardrobe, peeling paint, curtain rails broken and bodged with sellotape. The building could be lovely but it could really do with a makeover in the bedrooms, I'd love to get my hands on it. It wouldn't take much to make it look amazing. The noise from downstairs travels really clearly through the floor into the bedroom, as the restrictions we have in place at the moment mean closing at 10pm it was fine but on a normal weekend night I think it would be an issue.

Liked: Good size room. A good breakfast and evening meal.
Disliked: Not much to dislike but one of the coffee cups in the room was still dirty with a white residue. I cleaned it myself. Cleanliness is important these days.
