Liked: Great staff, but room and service met the same as a youth hostile. The management should be ashamed of the room and the amenities offered.
Disliked: Some food and beverages, bigger room, cleaner room. Room was dirty and not maintained

Very pleasant stay and great...
Liked: Considering the COVID situation and no meals were included it was quite nice and the staff was very accommodating in spite of all the regulations imposed on them. We will certainly consider a future stay if ever California opens again.
Disliked: The air conditioning is not able to be regulated in the room and I would suggest fixing the air vents in order to properly close if it gets too cold or even hot.

Great location. Awesome room.
Liked: Charming room. Huge bed. Perfect location to explore La Jolla.
Disliked: Couldn?t work out how to turn off air conditioning. Noisy all night. Probably our fault. In the time of Covid we saw no staff so didn?t ask for help.

Great Location, charming property would...
Liked: The location of the B&B was great walking distance to the beach, great restaurants and just an overall great neighborhood. The room was a good size and and a very comfortable bed. The House was charming.
Disliked: Traveling during COVID is interesting and the B&B did NOT have any breakfast to offer us which I knew before we drove down to stay. Upon arrival the B&B Staff was less than helpful and I had to ask them questions about the breakfast, where to park our car, was the rooftop open for guests, etc.....it's not that they were rude because they were NOT they just didn't give us an overview of the property and what was available and what wasn't.

I'd be back in a...
Liked: The Bed and Breakfast at La Jolla inn (Phillips Souza's house) is a historic place with the perfect California beach sense. The original part has smaller rooms and charmingly original touches ( I loved the upstairs den and patio where we had our coffee and wine each day). The addition maintains the mood of the main house while adding more space and modern yet traditional comforts.
The inn has a perfect old California feeling and you simply cannot beat the location.
Disliked: We, unfortunately, stayed at the inn during the Covid and had to miss out on the famously delicious breakfasts. I'm sure we would have enjoyed it. Nevertheless, there were so many great breakfast places within walking distance we were not seriously disappointed.

Liked: Good location with a very nice clean room.
Disliked: Room advertised with a balcony, which it did not have. An alcove with seats was all. No clean towels delivered for a three night stay and no room cleaning. Staff was underwhelming and not around much. Wifi did not work in the Penthouse ?Gill? room? so had to use a hot spot.

Quiet and Well Located
Liked: The B&B was beautiful and quiet. There were lovely shared spaces that were relaxing to enjoy coffee and the gorgeous weather. We walked to local restaurants during our stay. Though they didn't have breakfast due to covid, we enjoyed our discount at Sugar and Scribe each morning.
