By far not the worst...
Liked: Pros: The rep. working the front desk was nice, polite, communicative, and what you would expect from someone in that capacity. The room location was very near where we parked our car and near the hotel lobby so that was ideal.Although in route to getting there at the last minute Google Maps suddenly had us detour down these dirt roads and pass an assortment of railroad tracks, it would have been more accurate if the Google Maps would have just instructed us to continue to Hwy 301. In other words, Google Maps had us go roundabout in a circle, when it could have simply taken us directly there. The hotel's location being very near Hwy 301 was extremely convenient as we were there only for my son's interview at Georgia Southern for the Governor Honors Program. The hotel is also conveniently located behind a McDonalds and there is a Huddle House across the street.
Disliked: Cons: Originally due to lack of foresight and a bit of procrastination, my husband could only find availability on 2/23 (approximately 1300 families would descend on Georgia Southern campus for GHP interviews) at Red Roof Inn and Super 8 in Stateboro. After reading all the reviews of the hotels in Vidalia, Swainsboro, and Meter, it seems Sylvania Inn was the closest and highest ranked of the ones in Swainsboro, Meter, Sylvania, and the aforementioned Statesboro Red Roof Inn and Super 8. The hotels in Vidalia were better and slightly higher ranked but were an hour away, maybe more, from Statesboro, and my son's interview was early in the morning so I didn't want to risk it. Sylvania is only 30 mins from Georgia Southern.I am familiar with the area, though I have not been in the area in a very long time. My grandparents lived in Sylvania and when I was little we would visit every weekend. During those visits we would also go to Statesboro, Meter, and Savannah. In addition, I have cousins that still live here. The thing that really made me choose Sylvania Inn is repeated reviews said the place was clean and I value this in a hotel highly. However, it wasn't the worst experience I've had with a hotel room - I don't think, though I can't remember having to stay in a small, family owned hotel in a small town in the last 25 years. The room was okay, except the bathroom. For a family of four there wasn't enough towels provided, the soaps were small and limited and there was no shower/body wash provided as is customary. The shower hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while. The ceiling in the bathroom had areas of paint peeling. There was also a small to medium sized bug (cockroach) near the shower. The room has old, bulky furnishings making it hard to move around. Each bed had three very small pillows versus two queen sized pillows as you would expect. The mattress was adequate.

I went to a wedding...
Liked: This little motel is a nice place to stay for a quick visit in Sylvania. It’s not fancy but for the price and location, it’s a good fit. The owners are very nice and accommodating.
Disliked: It is a little dated, and some of the guests smoke outside of the rooms, which you can smell, but overall it’s fine.

Ok but need love
Liked: Location
Disliked: Old and used, therefore too expensive, but it’s the only one in the area.
