Peaceful stay in a beautiful...

Liked: Beautiful building set amid wonderful grounds. Our room was delightful and very spacious overlooking the deer park We enjoyed a super walk through the deer park and gardens. The evening meal and breakfast were superb. Covid precautions were 100% excellent.

Liked: The approach from the drive, first impressions and the grounds
Disliked: Tired furnishings in bedrooms chipped furniture. Crumbs and smears on desk. Food residue on welcome brochure. Dead flies on window seat cushions and refreshment table. Toilet didn't flush properly. Hot tap on sink didn't work. Towel rail took several hours to start to heat up. Insufficient heater for room size, did not warm up. Mould and scum on shower screen rubber and bath sealant. Stains on carpet. Staff were apologetic. Despite room change, the poor standard of hygiene and housekeeping was not acceptable, we felt so uncomfortable we did not want to stay, so left.

Relaxing escape in the country

Liked: Staff are exceptional. Very highly trained and pleasant. The attention to detail is very good - the hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished, the garden is lovely and there's a very calm atmosphere. The COVID restrictions are adhered to with a polite but positive attitude - asking you to be mindful rather than signage everywhere.
Disliked: At dinner, my food was slightly different from what was described on the menu. I understand that things have to change but I would liked to have been told (particularly as the staff knew I am autistic).
