Small but good location
Liked: The rooms were clean and location was great right in the middle of the trendy Hayes Valley. I appreciated how seamless and high-tech the contactless checkin was.
Disliked: The room was very smaller (smaller than I expected) and there was a private bathroom but it was across the public hallway.

The stay was very smooth,...
Liked: I really liked that the Sonder was available for an early check in and the room was clean and comfortable. Not having to worry about cleaning staff entering the room was a big plus and I felt safe and secure in Hayes Valley.
Disliked: I don't have any complaints. There was no breakfast, but there were plenty of coffee shops nearby.

Exceptional
Liked: The hotel is automated and unstaffed. The keyless entry system on the front door broke towards the end of my stay and couldn't be fixed the same day. Sonder sent a corporate staff member on site (i.e. an office worker) to let me in and out of the building for several hours and they provided me free accommodations at another of their hotels in SF. They also let me choose the hotel and the room at the new place. The Sonder staff member even helped me pack up and load my car. I was thoroughly impressed by how well I was taken care of and because of the experience Sonder will top my list whenever I'm looking for a place to stay. I got caught between apartments during the COVID-19 shutdown so I've stayed at many local hotels in SF recently...many of the hoteliers have dealt with the crisis with fear or rudeness, Sonder has been the opposite. Very welcoming, very hospitable and very humane. These guys are great. I will always remember the kindness they showed me during the COVID crisis.
