Uncomfortable. Noisy. NOT SOUNDPROOFED.

Liked: Sadly there are more minuses than pluses. The staff were friendly and informative. The hostel itself was partially wheelchair friendly. The location was excellent, and easy enough to find.
Disliked: Sadly there are more minuses than pluses, there were no drinking vessels for rinsing our mouth after teeth cleaning. The shower (wet room) didn't have non-slip tiles (I wasn't able to use the shower) there were no shelves or cupboards to store clothing. It was supposed to be wheelchair friendly BUT the lift was not accessible and the other lift was down a few stairs and across the crowded bar. I was not in a wheelchair but nevertheless I have mobility problems. The door to our room was extremely difficult to open (it took both of us to open it). There was no television.I know this was a hostel BUT I have stayed in better and cheaper hotels with more amenities than this O&O in Edinburgh. The bed was extremely UNCOMFORTABLE, due to this I had muscular pains after both nights.

Good cost benefit

Liked: There were a good light on the bed and curtain around the bed. The living area is really good as well.
Disliked: The duvet didnt have a cover, the room was too much worm for me and didnt have a stand to leave the cellphone, classes and other small things.

Bad

Liked: Only because it was st Patrick's day there was a nice atmosphere in the bar below but I wasn't there to party
Disliked: I needed a good night's sleep after an early start driving up from Newcastle because I had to get up early again to visit my late wife's grave in Armadale. The noise outside and inside made getting to sleep difficult. There wasn't a TV in the twin room I booked nor was there any tea or coffee facilities. I used booking. Com and found it deceived me into believing that I had a twin room in a hotel with a TV in the room not down 7 flights of stairs in the bar. One lift was out of order so I was having to force my way thru a crowd of students, covid is still very real and that crowded reception was ridiculous and dangerous. Next time I will make sure it's not one of these hostel places. I just searched for a twin room in Edinburgh and didn't expect where I ended up. I have been less disappointed with a prison cell for accommodation, at least there you get a TV in the room and a kettle for a hot drink but the room service in HMP Belmarsh was a negative I suppose so in essence it is slightly better than a prison cell but only just. It was like a night on basic regime.
