Mary, Macungie, visiting Bloomberg Tower Mon, 3 April 2017

A gem of a hotel; prime location to get to many attractions; staff very professional; Bellman was courteous and very helpful - gave us a history of the Hotel which was wonderful; cozy lounge/restaurant for drinks; extremely accommodating with rainy day check out. We will be back and will highly recommend the Renaissance 57 to friends, family and business associates.

Liked: Welcoming staff; concierge; bedding; ambiance; location.
Disliked: Lunch service was very poor in the in-house restaurant - food very average; ordered coffee which was not available; the restaurant was not particularly crowded; staff did not appear to be confident or clear on who was to take care of our table; cob salad had almost zero lettuce.

Great value for money and...

Liked: Location, location, location! It was absolutely fabulous, Times Square and Rockefeller center were within walking distance plus accesses to lines E, M, F, N, Q, R, 4, 5 and 6 were max five minutes away from the hotel. Walking back from Times or from bars on 3rd Av in the evening was not a problem since neighborhood is quite safe.Bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious and clean, room was cleaned every single day. During check in we asked for "a room with a view", staff was ultra nice and they gave us a room on 12th floor (almost no noise coming from the street and from the next-door construction site), since no rooms with a view were available. Built-in (wall) closet was cool as it saved some space in otherwise not very big room. The big, shared terrace seemed really cool although we did not spend a lot of time there (we were out since early morning till the evening each day and weather in evenings was not the best) BUT I believe it's a totally different story during summer nights. Before visiting (but only after booking) I read experiences / reviews mentioning i) an extra, hidden, mandatory fee for the gym and conference center and ii) a fee for luggage storage; neither is true. There is absolutely no gym/conference center - related fee, nor there is a surcharge for storing the luggage (as long as you pick it up the same day).
Disliked: There is no breakfast at all on weekends, then on Monday there was nothing as well (they said there were some issues with delivery) and on all other days, only apples and coffee were available after 9 AM. Staff told us they usually offer croissants and sweet pastries so it's not really a real, continental breakfast - it's more of a grab and go kind of thing. There was not much sunlight in the room, but I'd say that's normal & expected in NYC. Hotel does show signs of tear and wear (although room we stayed in was more than good!) but it still offers good value for money.

It's like a musty odor...

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: I really don't understand the positive reviews here. The reality here is quite different from the photos, and the smell of the shower curtain was very unpleasant. It's like a musty odor lingering all the time. Despite trying a Freeze product, it hasn't helped much. Additionally, the room is very dark and small, there's no breakfast provided. Living in New York for a year, I've come to realize that the hotels in Midtown and Downtown Manhattan are often outdated. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling very disappointed. The next day, I opted for one of the more cheaper hotels on Wall Street, and it's better

Ermmmm ... I'll pass next...

Liked: Amazing location. Great to get around.
Disliked: So, let's start at the arrival. We got there late because of the issues with the flight. Once we got there, we started talking to the host. Got the keys and went to the room ... someone was already in there. Awkward. Went back downstairs & gave us another room. I always checked the room & parts of the panels had started to fall off the walls. The bathroom hadn't had a good descale in a while. Massive dust bunny's by the side of the bed. The elevators had issues with it. One was always broken, so the others were packed. On the leaving day, we asked to keep the room a little longer. For an hour or two due to the flight being a late one. The lady I spoke to said she would have to charge us the whole night! I was expecting a $100 maybe slightly more but they wanted $395... considering the check-in was at 4pm & she said there was no one booked in the room after us. Just felt like it was a rip off. The Breakfast was very small. More pastries then anything, & you would have to get there very early to grab a seat.

Overall very good but address...

Liked: Location. Space of room. It was clean. Quiet.
Disliked: The Grab and Go breakfast was gone at 07:30 despite the advertising of breakfast between a certain time. It was fresh but in no way was breakfast grab and go available at 8 am. This really does need addressing by any organisation that advertises this hotel and facilities. A lady stood and rationed out pastries. Not available on weekends. So it’s not worth writing in the advertising and I booked this hotel on the basis that a small breakfast was available to start the day.

Liked: The hotel is very close to the Central Park and 5th Avenue. The subway is also very close to the hotel. There are supermarkets and places to eat. It is very easy to move in NY and you can go by walking to many places from the hotel. For those who like big cities, traffic and lots of people, stay in the heart of Manhattan it is worth it.The hotel is very well located and the rooms are big!!!
