Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Paula C, Lansing MI Mon, 7 May 2012

Horrible. Dirty crumbs on the floor by the bed; mildew on the shower curtain; we had to buy flip flops to take a shower in the dirty tub; room stunk of cigarettes; pillows were lumpy; no hair dryer; it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Horrible; dirty.

Liked: The gentlemen at the counter was honestly the friendliness customer service rep that I?ve came across in a long time. Made me feel welcome.

Much better than expected.

Liked: I was pleasantly surprised. I had heard some TERRIBLE things about this hotel from several years ago, and since we were traveling with children, I emailed management. They responded promptly and reassured me that MANY changes had taken place. The manager actually came to our rooms after check in to make certain that we were pleased. The rooms were clean. Beds were firm and comfortable. Linens acceptable. AC efficient. Quiet on the premises all night despite Homecoming Weekend. Admittedly, the property is compromised... the building "long in the tooth" and badly in need of full renovation, but for one night- it worked. Primary complaint- NO COFFEE in the lobby the morning of checkout and reluctance of staff to make more.

Use as last resort.

Liked: Location, continental breakfast.
Disliked: Location is the reason for this hotel to exist. Bordering along MSU, and it's accommodating location on the Lansing freeway system, this hotel offers no bells or whistles, and is over-priced. Thin walls, long distances to room, with outside 2nd story stairways. Not functional.

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: The smell of the room was awful. I'm thinking it was moldy. My husband got stuffed up right away. I had to fall asleep with a towel over my nose and felt gross the next morning. I went to the front desk before bunking down to see if there were candles or an air freshner. The attendant found a spray can of air freshner. The can was almost empty and he asked that I bring it back. After spraying, it smelt a bit better but the other odor came back all too quickly. I did return the air freshner the next morning. I understand you're renovating but it was awful. I also understand that this is a college town and my expectations weren't high but this was worse than expected. Also the next morning, there was only one attendant and on a game day. He was running his tail off trying to get the breakfast area set up, which wasn't set up before our departure. I won't be back.

Pleasant

Disliked: Overcharged for the price we were quoted on booking.com by $84! We had our confirmation code, and quote on app....Had to call the manager three times. Was told it was a booking.com issue and then they changed their mind and said they would refund the difference. Still waiting for the refund to show up on my card though.

Pleasant

Disliked: I stayed in room 205 and the bathroom was disgusting and the light and fan in the bathroom was noisy. The main door was very hard to open. The carpet had cigarrette burn marks and one of the walls had a blood stain probably from someone smacking a bug on the wall
