Very good

Liked: The negative reviews for this hotel are unjustified. No it is not a five start luxury resort. But for a clean, functional place to spend a night while traveling it is fine.

Asked for 2 more pillows,...

Liked: Where do I start? They put us in the room farthest from the front desk as possible, literally, and as close to the NY State Thruway as possible. The traffic did not help us sleep. There was a shirt on the floor from a previous traveler and the chair was so wobbly I didn't want to sit on it. There were weeds growing out of the sidewalk and the side entrance was only locked during the day. Why? First day we returned from an outing, the room card wouldn't open any doors. We asked TWICE for two extra pillows and later that evening someone showed up with a pillow in one hand and pillowcase in the other. She said she would "try to find another pillow". Apparently she's still looking. We never saw her again. A couple hundred rooms and they couldn't find a spare pillow? At the front desk they told us the attached Steakhouse wasn't that good and directed us to an Applebees. The ice machine didn't work. The only recommendation I can give for this hotel is to keep on driving.
Disliked: See above

Conveniently located and okay for...

Liked: We liked the convenience of the location. Although it was unattractively located behind a car dealership's inventory and next to a busy highway, it was easy to find and was only a short drive to the more attractive, historic parts of Kingston. The beds were very comfortable. The staff in the restaurant and at the front desk were all very pleasant and tried their best to please, despite the many shortcomings of this facility.
Disliked: The availale first floor King sized beds were located in a separate wing that was far from the restaurant and front desk - and the hallways and rooms had a horrible musty, moldy odor. As I needed a first floor room due to a recent knee operation, we had to move to the main building where there were no first floor King rooms available and no elevator to the second floor. The new room had two Queen beds and was fresh smelling and the transfer was made smoothly and immediately when we made the desk clerk aware of the problem. The clerk said we were not the first to mention the odor in the far wing of the hotel. The facilities and furniture in general had a tired appearance and are in need of a makeover. The restaurant was out of many standard items needed for their menu. It took forty minutes after we ordered to receive two salads and there were only two other people in the restaurant. The Chef Salad was "not available" due to lack of several necessary ingredients and when we changed the order to Cobb Salad, we were told that they would arrive with guacamole instead of avocado because they were out of avocado in the kitchen. The next morning at breakfast when I ordered granola and yogurt, I was told that was not available either. There was a laminated "note to guests" in our room asking for a rating of 10. While the staff and comfortable beds deserved a 10, there was nothing else about this hotel that rated a 10 and we don't ever appreciate being asked for a specific rating in this way.
