Perfect city trip hotel

Liked: Great location, good breakfast, very nice facilities and big room
Disliked: The daily cleaning could have been better but the issue was raised to the staff and handled very professionally so it won’t hinder us from returning

Liked: This is our second time staying at the Montcalm in 2 months! The staff are super friendly and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is delightful. The rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast is great and the spa facilities are fantastic!

Really good value and excellent...

Liked: The spa was nice and good value. The breakfast was really good. Freshly cooked avocado toast etc a bonus. Check in very quick and efficient. I especially liked the free water refills available in the corridor, that was an excellent touch.
Disliked: We ate in Marlowe's bar/ restaurant on the Saturday night and it was not great. I had the impression that the bar staff didn't see it as their job to take food orders. We were just dismissively told to sit anywhere we liked. We were not given a menu or salt and pepper for the table - I had to hunt them down. No one came to take our order so I went up to order at the bar. If it is bar service only then no one told us that when we arrived. Certainly no one apologised for the fact that I had to go up and order which given the prices (twice as much for my squid dish as at Alchemist across the road), was a bit surprising. There were only about 4 occupied tables in the entire bar so it was not like they were rushed off their feet. Food was not great - I had squid, truffle chips and what appeared to be a bagged supermarket salad. My daughter's sourdough pizza was really good though. The service and food on Saturday night was definitely the only weak point in what was otherwise an excellent stay

Liked: Staff was super friendly and very helpful.
Disliked: The way the rooms are design, don't allow for much natural sun light. Also location is not optimal, if you use public transportantion to get there.
