It was ok, the location is the best part.

Liked: The location was great, the view was beautiful. The room was very spacious. Off street parking was nice. We liked the lobby with fireplace. Having access to a hot tub was decent. Check-in was very easy.
Disliked: The hotel is quite worn, lots of marks on the walls, the pool and hot tub area were quite old and dingy looking. There was never any staff available to ask questions or get needed supplies like coffee pods or more shampoo. We had to travel across the street to get them. We noticed a card in our bathroom that said if we wanted to have a more green stay we could forgo using housekeeping and get 10 credit per day to use in the restaurant at High Peaks. So we put out sign on the door and went 4 days without housekeeping. Upon check out, which we had to do across the street the woman said we had to let them know before hand if we wanted to participate. I did see that after the fact on the card. But honestly, they can see that we did not use housekeeping, and in my opinion I think the staff should have offered the credits. We had planned to have brunch at Dancing Bears that morning and decided not to because the desk staff refused to offer the credit. We love Lake Placid and travel there two to three times a year. Sadly I do not think I will return to either Lake House or High Peaks. Lake House felt like the forgotten step sister of the High Peaks Resort. Also, the lobby area was not cleaned regularly, 7 dirty wine glasses sat on the bar for over a day, the tables were often dirty with food and there were a pair of dirty earplugs left on a side table for 2 days. I am not resort snob but I did feel a big lack of cleanliness.
