Good location, but not a...

Liked: Location really good. Was given postcode for a car park that was approx 14 but when we got there it was actually 22. Bed comfy.
Disliked: Shower flooded the bathroom and even on to the bedroom floor and that was after a few minute shower, so felt like had to be in and out very quickly as was conscious it was going all over the place, no one actually asked how our stay was upon checkout either. Room was so noisy someone playing music gone 10pm but sounded like was from a room? Would have expected maybe someone to ask them to lower it down with it being such a small hotel. Same thing around 8am the next morning - not what you want if you want to lie in. Would have liked an iron in the room. No WiFi code offered during check in either. No one told us about breakfast or gave any options. Was all very impersonal. Also hoover like sound gone 10pm too that just seemed to echo around our bottom floor room. All in all not a goodnight sleep or a leisurely morning which is what you stay in a hotel for.

Full of character and history

Liked: Staff were nice, room was Full of character and good value considering the location and quality. Nice theme throughout the hotel and everything was perfectly squinty in true York style
Disliked: A couple of restrictions due to Covid, but nothing that the hotel can be held responsible for.

Great location great staff but...

Liked: There was no breakfast facility
Disliked: this hotel was extortionately over priced! It is tired, no air con, windows don't open, it was a basic shabby tired room that should most definitely not have been rated 4 star. Its quirky and the staff are lovely but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The windows don't open so if there was a fire on the landing we would be dead. Im disgusted at what we paid for this

Liked: It?s really quirky and the history is very interesting. The location is right in the shopping areas and near to bars/restaurants so it?s ideal
Disliked: The room was really dusty and clearly hadn?t been cleaned in areas. The sinks wouldn?t drain properly and it leaked.

Lovely, clean, central place to...

Liked: Due to C19 no breakfast was available, great location and comfy bed
Disliked: We had a basement room with windowns looking onto brick wall opposite! Still room was modern and comfortable, ideal for what we needed. A better street sign would have been better, this could easily be missed as entrance down small alleyway
