Liked: Excellent location
Disliked: The room was smaller than expected, no bed side tables only one stool The fans weren?t working asked to get another one and didn?t get one, didn?t get any sleep as the room was so hot. Also was mentioned online that there was a bar with cocktails etc and there was only very limited beer and wine and no lounge to sit and enjoyLoved the shower room and great location but wouldn?t stay again.

Not impressed especially for the...
Liked: There was no breakfast
Disliked: Broken window would not stay open thick layer of dust when opening bedside draw no information in room had to ask in general not 4 star

Liked: All of the value in the price of staying at judges location is in its location. This is a double edged sword Because whilst it?s very centrally located and near to everything, It?s in the middle of a pedestrianised Street and cars cannot be driven directly to the hotel to unload suitcases etc.
Disliked: When we stayed for our first night in the room which was room 11, The temperature was unbearable, It was a hot night and with out the windows open To their maximum extent and the radiators were off, but there was something about the room which made it really heart and there was no air-conditioning inside it. When we got up the next morning to shower we found out why the room was hot. The shower was on there with the heart when we tried it at first and the up pipe must have been running through our room heating it to unbearable temperature. The staff who were nice explained that it just sometimes does it ????? Which whilst the staff were helpful I found perplexing that it hadn?t had a permanent fix up until that day. There were no on-site eating facilities or drinking facilities in the restaurant so we ended up bringing breakfast to our room so that we could eat Our choice of food when we wanted it. On our first morning we did try to get breakfast in the local restaurant, but because your was busy it was full. If I knew in advance what the room would would be like I would have made an early complain about the heating and I would?ve brought some bowls, spoons knives and forks for us to eat breakfast in our room and make our own coffee, because The hotel coffee was not very nice. We paid a lot for a room in our opinion, but we know that prices have doubled since when we booked our stay so I know they?re exorbitant at the moment. This hotel will be good if you don?t mind not having food on site, going to get breakfast by leaving the hotel in the morning, you don?t mind poor coffee or hot rooms. By all means if you want To stay at a centrally located but poorly facilitated hotel, go for this one, but if we stay in York again we will probably choose somewhere else.

Liked: Great location in center of York, immaculate rooms and great comfy bed.
Disliked: Room was in basement at front so little noisy with guests entering/ leaving and no view.

A hidden gem of a...
Liked: Really interesting quirky place, right in the town centre, nice staff and a great base to explore York. I hesitate to go back there again?

Shabby and not the same...
Disliked: Really gone down hill , carpets stained , walls marked and ripped wallpaper , headboard all scratched. We use to really like staying here but the place really needs a good refurbishment

Perfect city hotel
Liked: Comfy beds, lovely staff, the bath in the room was a big bonus
