Disappointing - 2 out of 5

James Mon, 28 June 2021

Disappointing

Liked: The setup for the house was actually perfect for our family, but the place is budget and it shows. Big iron marks in the carpet, toilet basins way to small, not double beds but twins pushed together. It?s not a nice place, it?s just ok.
Disliked: I never write really bad reviews but I felt I have to about this hotel. The woman who ran things, Mrs Carol, has ZERO awareness about how she comes across and left us with a very bad taste in our mouths the more our stay went on.She was intensely over the top from the start which became out right rude and obnoxious towards the end.We booked the hotel because my brother had been involved in a serious traffic accident and was fighting for his life, he could have died at any point of our stay. This hotel is very near the hospital which is why we booked. I told Mrs Carol about this when she first phoned me (she was very over the top unnecessary way) and this news about my brother was received with a super enthusiastic happy response. This was a little odd, as if she didn?t understand just how serious the situation was for a large amount of her guests. She did get the rooms ready quickly for us, I?ll give her that. But then after, there is no reference to how we were, just hassle after hassle about her rooms and the drive for the hotel. It was so unnecessary. By a bizarre twist in fait, 4 of us were ALSO in a car accident whilst staying at the hotel and my car was obviously not in a good way, I managed to get the car to the hotel driveway on Tuesday and was dealing with the insurance to get it all processed to be taken away. I kept Mrs Carol up-to-date with this but I didn?t hear the end about the car being moved off the drive from Mrs Carol. There was no compassion in the way she operated and no awareness of how distressed we all were the whole time we spent there. No awareness of how bizarre it was to refer to her as Mrs Carol and was patronising to deal with - She even threatened to have my car toed if it wasn?t not removed, despite me informing her that it was all being processed and the insurance were in the middle of arranging a pick up. The issue with the drive had such little consequence to her, as there were multiple drives!

Ok for a short stay,...

Liked: Can't fault the lady who welcomed us, she was lovely and the facilities were great. There was a sainsburys local about 6min walk and everything that you needed was there, apart from hand soap. But this was explained in the details when booking.
Disliked: The fact that you can hear every other person staying at the B&B. Me and my boyfriend ended up leaving at 1 o clock in the morning to go home which was a 3 hour drive. We stayed on the ground floor flat. The front door is very noisy and we were woken up by a group of people decided to arrive at midnight, talking very loudly with no concern for anyone else staying there, they stayed upstairs and you can hear every movement they made. Which isn't the B&Bs fault but I personally think it would be better without a ground floor flat as I think other people staying here would find the same problems.
