We were excited about our first visit to this historic/boutique hotel. But, it would have been nice if the hotel had advised us that on the day of arrival there would be a wedding reception going on until eleven that evening. Our room was above the reception. We were exhausted from our long day of travel and the walls are very thin. We could not get to sleep until after midnight because of the noise. Also, we were advised that the kitchen would be open until eleven in the evening. At 10:15 p.m. on Saturday the kitchen closed and we were not able to order even a simple appetizer. It is disappointing to spend more money on an upscale historic/boutique hotel and then have the hotel not follow thorough on what they say they do. Our suite was nice although the fan did not work. We will be going back to Rochester but will not return to this hotel unless things change.
Liked: Clean room. Within walking distance to the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra venue.
Disliked: (1) The first night there was a very loud wedding reception going on right below our room. Even though the music stopped at 11:00 p.m., the walls are thin and we kept hearing noise. It had been a long traveling day, with a busy day scheduled the next day, and we were not able to go to sleep until after midnight. We should have been advised prior to checking in that this reception was scheduled in this small historic/boutique hotel. (2) After the symphony on Saturday night, we came back to the hotel around 10:15 p.m. We were told by the receptionist that food could be ordered from the bar until 11:00 p.m. We went directly to the bar to get a drink and asked if we could order something to eat. The server said she thought the kitchen was closed. She went to check and came back to say it was closing early. She did not even offer a simple appetizer or anything. We left without ordering a drink and went to our room where we ordered outside of the hotel for food to be delivered. We were very disappointed to not be able to sit and unwind in the bar with drinks and light food after an evening at the symphony. (3) During our first night, three of us ate at the hotel restaurant. The food was okay but over-priced.

The Inn is really 5 minutes to the best Rochester has to offer and they have a lot to offer. Staff at the Inn are friendly, the food was fantastic and the place is gorgeously preserved. It's steeped in history, character and charm. Can't wait to make it back.

Too pricey given our experience....
Liked: The receptionist was friendly. The room had a lot of space.
Disliked: 1. There was a large insect with A LOT of legs in the jacuzzi bathtub. Not a huge issue...creepy. 2. The pillows were hard and very full, making it difficult to sleep on. Good for watching TV, not sleeping. 3. Coffee cup was DIRTY! Yuck...it was so gross. I took a photo. Looked like someone just wiped the inside out, leaving a ring inside the mug about a cm from the bottom; and a coffee spot in the bottom middle of the same cup. 4. We were hungry and tired, so order room service from the restaurant. Expensive options, yet convenient. Risotto was awful. I have never had risotto taste like this. We couldn't eat it, or the ravioli. We are used to homemade food. This stuff must have been frozen Sysco crap. The crab cake was good and the soup was tasty. I order a glass of pinot and they brought a bottle. I ended up spending $180 for 2 soups, awful risotto & ravioli, one crab cake, a soda, a cocktail and wine. They added $29 gratuity, when asked they said that it is standard. I don't mind paying gratuity. The principal that it was NOT on the menu or any other place is what bothers me. DO NOT eat here, check your coffee mugs and bring your own pillow. Now I see that my card has an additional $50 charge??

Liked: The restaurant and staff were great!
Disliked: Sink needs to be repaired or replaced, it had a leak and cracks.The cable television

Liked: Decor was nice. Bar was good. Restaurant ambiance was very good.
Disliked: Restaurant prices were excessive for what we got.
