The cozy rooms reflect the building's Victorian heritage yet have modern touches like work desks and free Wi-Fi. The charming lobby has cathedral ceilings Tiffany glass and marble everywhere — and best of all a Starbucks. You'll also find a restaurant and lounge on-site. The business center helps road warriors make the most of their time away from the office while the fitness room makes it easy for active types to keep up with their workouts. Parking is available on-site (for a fee). The Hotel Whitcomb is in SoMa (South of Market) about a half-hour's drive from San Francisco International Airport. The hotel is directly across from the landmark Orpheum Theater on vibrant Market Street. There is a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) rail station on the corner and the classic San Francisco streetcar line travels right in front of the hotel. Take the 10-minute drive to Pier 39 where you can see everything from sea lions to street performers do a little shopping at Fisherman's Wharf and get a bite to eat at a waterfront restaurant. Moscone Convention Center is about six blocks away as are the Yerba Buena Gardens. Hotel Whitcomb offers an old-world feel at a wholesale price plus free Wi-Fi and a fitness room.

I will definitely book this hotel next time I go to San Francisco.

Liked: Beautiful hotel; central location, in the middle of downtown.
Disliked: Elevators are slow.

Room was small but did have large walk-in closet. It appeared to be clean and the beds were comfortable. Extremely close to Bill Graham venue. Very annoyed at the long waits for the 2 of 4 small elevators that were in working order. Worst hotel shower ever - long wait for warm water and miniscule water pressure. No in-room coffee so had to trek downstairs to the crowded Starbucks every a.m. Ice machine had ice about 1/2 the time. No room service available at all. Electrical outlet needs replaced. Might have been better satisfied at half the price I paid which was around $750 for 3 nights + $45/night for parking. I'd probably opt for the Best Western next time there's a concert at that venue.

Liked: Room was clean; very close to Bill Graham venue. Friendly, cheerful maid service very helpful.
Disliked: 2 out of 4 small elevators operable; very little shower water pressure; no in-room coffee & no room service available; had to set a bag in front of electrical outlet to keep plug from falling out.

Disliked: The room was very small! I was unable to open the window due to an air conditioner being held in place with duck tape! Shower was old and out of date! And I'm still trying to get my deposit back!

Liked: The entry and lobby area was ornate but every one kept commenting it reminded them of American Horror Story. Parking was quick but a little hard to find at first.
Disliked: Very slow elevators and the check in staff seemed like they were in a comma, no expression. Rooms, especially bathrooms in need of an update.

Disliked: The location of the hotel is not ideal..I walked around at night and turn out to be a very dangerous area in the surroundings

Liked: It was very aesthetically pleasing inside and out.
Disliked: The staff was not very friendly. The vallet service took my car to their "other lot" so I had to wait 10 minutes to get something out of my car. The room was tiny. Finally, they still made me pay $42 for parking, even though I was extremely displeased.

Liked: Since of history
Disliked: 1. Their parking policy was an outrage. While I don't object to a $38 a day fee, they charge another $20 if you stay one minute past 3 pm. This means you cannot check out, leave your things in the car, work, then leave. 2. No coffee in the room.

Liked: All the wood and marble was beautiful.
Disliked: Wasn't as nice as the other 3 star hotels we have stayed in. Room was rather dark. Shower was small and the water pressure wasn't good. It took almost two minutes before the water would get hot.

Liked: The staff was excellent and so courteous. We were checked in by at the front desk and he made us feel so welcome. He has a wonderful attitude and beautiful spirit!
Disliked: The appearance was very old and outdated. Small room.
