Thumbs down. Only good thing was the location to the show we attended. Besides the things mentioned above under what was bad, the bottom drawer in the dresser under the TV was broken.
Liked: The location; the bell captains were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The bedspread smelled like it was sprayed with perfume - overwhelming! The bathroom drain was clogged! We were never able to get WiFi. No washcloths. Long waiting lines to check in and check out at prime times.

Arriving with raised eyebrows based on a few bad reviews for this hotel, I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a prime location, increasing the accessibility of my planned visit sites, as well as aged but a clean lined format in the room provided. The front desk service was excellent, as was the proximity of restaurants, sites, and shopping near the hotel. Despite some of the warnings posted on the internet reviews, I did not feel unsafe or threatened (as a single woman traveling alone) in this property. While this is not necessarily a luxury property, I will certainly return again and again during my quick trips to NYC, and recommend its cleanliness, comfort, and convenient location to all who visit the city.

Liked: when i said i wanted to check out i was given another room which was nicer.
Disliked: long queues to check in and noone at reception for complaint. My room was not up to standard and i had to ask to be moved. Carpet was dirty and it smelled of dust and chlorin was not aired at all. The bed was terrible - soft soggy mattress. But my main problem with this place is that i have been charged twice for this night as the cancellation of a first booking that i made via booking .com has still not been refunded despite several messages and communications. breakfast included but across the road in diner that was not very clean.

Incorrect pricing at time of...
Disliked: I booked a double room for February 2020 on Booking.com. The Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan New York ranked at Booking with a total price of $ 240.99 (about ? 217). I booked the room and deposited my credit card. At this time (time of purchase) I was not shown any other price components. When I arrived at the hotel on Friday evening, however, I was charged ? 425.84 (US $ 451.21)! That's US $ 210.22 more than when I purchased it. This is an increase in price of 87%. The difference, as we were told at the hotel reception, resulted mainly from an ?additional? hotel fee, but also some taxes. When asked why the hotel fee was not included in the total price on booking.com, the answer was "we don't know please call booking.com." Great, the hotel that maintains their prices on booking.com wants to hide behind the booking platform. I tried to call booking.com. The hotline was overloaded and no representative could be reached. It was Friday night. Try to find a similarly priced hotel in Manhattan on Friday evening after a long journey. The hotel staff knew the same and couldn't hide a nasty grin. Hoping that Booking.com would take care of it later, I sent my screenshot with the total price from my booking.com app to booking's customer service. After many days of waiting (we had long checked out of the hotel), we were assured by email that the prices had been correctly calculated after consultation with the hotel. Unbelievable. If you advertise in europe via booking.com, you need to adhere to local legislation. The so called ?final price? should contain all price components so that the customer know for what he/she is putting down their credit card for. Instead of apologizing and refunding the difference, Booking.com adjusted my booking in the app about 1 week after complaining. It now shows the higher price including the additional hotel fees.

Liked: location was brillant the staff was lovely
A lot of noise next door but the minute we reported it the staff looked after us
Breakfast was lovely
very good value for money .
Disliked: No Kettle to make a cup of tea .

great deal for the price
Liked: We stayed in one of the newly remodeled room without extra charge.
The room was clean and comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and responsive.
We received a free breakfast at a restaurant across the street.
Disliked: The hotel is very large the lobby is very busy
