Clean & Comfortable but don't...

Liked: The room was very clean and comfortable. Nice sheets, towels, mattress and pillows. Checkin staff was kind and courteous.
Disliked: There was not an appropriate or reasonable breakfast that we have come to expect from other Holiday Inn Express locations we have visited. The pancake maker was broken, there were no cinnamon rolls , sausage, cups for juice and the fruit bowl was empty. The milk pitcher was also empty and the oatmeal was hard and burned to the bottom of the container. We waited and waited for things to be refilled so we could eat and it didn't happen. We finally had to leave to go to our open house at WCU & we waited so long (after front desk told us that they'd be getting more food out) at Holiday Inn Express that we had no time to pick up something on the way. Holiday Inn Express Sylva caused us to traipse around a college campus for hours on an empty stomach. Not ok!!! I place a lot of value in a solid hotel breakfast and would have chosen to stay elsewhere had I known this was the case. I paid extra upon booking for our party to be able to eat and we didn't get to. After an hour a couple of cinnamon rolls were brought out and they were frozen on the inside. Ridiculous. Also, the road noise is extremely loud from this hotel and it's proximity to the interstate.

Liked: Right off the interstate!
Disliked: Very quite place! We were however missing wash rags in the room and the room phone didnt work! Breakfast was ok but they definitely needed to plan for more people than they did as they ran out of food!

The room was amazing and...

Liked: Renovated rooms.
Disliked: There was construction on the main floor, this was not advertised. I would have probably booked elsewhere if I knew it was a construction zone. Also the property next to the hotel was very sketchy.

Spontaneous trip

Liked: Wow! Hotel was very nice. Clean, clean, clean!! The carpets were like new, room looked new. Smelled fresh. Bathroom was spotless. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The hotel was under construction however it didn't impede our stay at all. We enjoyed a hot breakfast. There was a nice vending area and a beer cooler! Staff was friendly and housekeeping does an amazing job!
Disliked: Bed was a bit too firm to my liking but was comfortable and clean.
