Disliked: Dead flies in the room, smoke alarm on the third floor that chirped throughout the night. The staff did not correct this when informed.

Not a good experience!

Liked: Our room was located well & would have been quiet, but for our neighbors with older children (not toddlers or babies) who were not controlled. They were kicking a ball in the hallway & talking on their cell phones in the hallway outside our room. We notified the staff and the noise eventually stopped.
Disliked: When we went to breakfast, there were no plates for waffles and no plastic utensils. There was only cereal, juice, coffee & some microwavable biscuits. The tables were dirty, obviously, not cleaned from the day before. I looked in the prep kitchen looking for plates & if the health department stopped for inspection, the breakfast area would surely have been shut down. Needless to say, if we were to return to South Haven, MI, we would NOT stay a this hotel again.

Room was big but apart...

Liked: There is only 2 things that we liked,1. Where the hotel is located, it is very close to the downtown and the South Haven harbor road.2. The size of the rooms.
Disliked: Well, where do I start.1. The elevator was not working and no one fixed it through the stay, we have to climb 2 stories every time.2. The surfaces and common areas were dusty and poor looking. 3. The bathroom was not as clean as expected.4. The breakfast is just a scam really. a 100 USD for such a hotel and such bad breakfast (well I would say almost no breakfast), very limited choices - normal bread pieces were laying around and we had to toast if we wanted. A bucket of batter and a waffle machine if we wanted to make the waffles ourselves and the batter was limited, so if you did not go soon, there would be no batter left. It is pretty bad because when on holiday and you pay a 100 USD and it says including breakfast, you do not want to make the breakfast yourself! What is the point then? No fresh juices, no muselli choices or hot milk, nothing. It is the worst breakfast I have seen provided by a hotel in my life. 5. The key card stopped working during the stay, this meant that we had to climb down and up the stairs again to reactivate it as the elevator was not working. I truly did expect a minimum standard when it comes to Choice hotels, but after this experience, I am not sure if I will ever pick a Choice hotel again. Very poor standards and maintenance.
