Nightmare in Tallahassee

Liked: The room I stayed in wreaked of smoke and lacked clean linen. Since the main lobby was under construction when we arrived, there was a makeshift guest check-in constructed in a narrow hallway near the guest elevator that not only presented a wealth of challenges and created an eyesore for arriving guests but was also a safety hazard. Signage was posted in front of the hotel’s main entrance directing guests to enter an unsupervised side door allowing 24-hour direct access to guest rooms. Anyone could have come through that door at any given time and robbed and caused harm to any guest at random.To make matters worse, when we woke up the next morning to take our morning shower, there was no hot water. I’m sure it has to do with the construction that is going on. However, as a large corporation that owns an impressive portfolio of properties, why keep this location open and inconvenience your guest by providing subpar service? In addition to the Hilton, Hilton Suites, you are the owners of The Hampton Inn which one location was located right across the street!When I asked for a new room, I was told that the room I was given was the only suite left and the only alternative was double beds. That would not work for my family. We booked the suite and paid the extra fees because of the privacy and comfort it will provide for us. The suite allowed a comfortable, private space for my sister and her daughter to sleep while providing an alternative sleep accommodation for my son and I to sleep. However, our allergies were triggered by the smoked filled room that lacked adequate linen and ventilation.The morning of checkout we were informed that the only elevator, the one located next to the crowded makeshift front desk, was not working. My sister who has asthma, had to risk her life climbing a flight of stairs.
