Liked: A very nice B&B in a quiet area of San Diego. Comfortable room and off street parking. Inn keeper extremely helpful and friendly with some good insights into what to do locally. $10 in an Uber to go to Gaslight Qtr or Harbourfront.
Disliked: Would have been nice to be offered something cooked for breakfast.

A great base for exploring...
Liked: This is a super friendly and comfortable place to stay in a nice quiet part of San Diego. We enjoyed eating in the surrounding area and walked to a lot of the sights (though driving and parking is easy too). Robert and Ann gave lots of helpful advice on where to go/ eat and breakfast was good.
Disliked: It's personal preference but the bed in the Zoo room was too soft for me and the room a little on the small side. This did not deter from a lovely stay though!

Hillcrest House is a great...
Liked: Ann was a fantastic host - she was warm, welcoming, very informative and and highly attentive to her guests' needs, always inquiring if anyone needed anything or had any questions about things to do to optimize their visit to the San Diego area. The breakfasts were simple, but prepared fresh daily and served in a very nice setting, offering several areas for seating that provided privacy, if you did not feel like being social in the morning, as well as others which offered ability to mix and socialize with other guests. The location was perfect for those visiting the area - it was very quiet considering you were within walking distance of downtown shopping, etc. The property itself offers 6 on-site parking places and there is plenty of additional street parking in the neighborhood. Again, a nice "suburban" luxury in the heart of a city.
Disliked: The only thing that we found to be somewhat problematic was the fact that we were limited to only one key. Since the property is well secured, requiring doors to common areas as well as guest rooms to be opened/secured with deadbolts as guests arrive/leave, having the key is essential. My wife and I were celebrating graduations/birthdays with my daughter and her family who live in San Diego - there were times the two of us were going in different directions and needed to leave/return to the property at different times. That was not always possible - an example - one morning I had to run some early errands and left before my wife awakened. I had to take the key with me in order to lock doors behind me as I left, which meant my wife was confined to the room until I returned. Not sure why we both could not have been provided a key. Perhaps we should have asked, but it would have been helpful to be offered two keys at time of check-in.
