Disliked: Carpet stained. 2 huge spiders in bathtub. Had to keep windows open or too stuffy. Had a group staying there, partying till late. So noisy couldn't sleep. Went to check out and eat breakfast at 8:15. Both supposed to be open at 8 but no one around. So just left

A calm and tranquil stay.

Liked: First time in Carmel Valley. Very scenic, clean air and tranquil environment. Nice getaway from the hustle and bustle that is L.A.
Disliked: A bit expensive. Overall, well worth the experience of a different location.

Liked: The pool area was ok
Disliked: It wasn?t for us... I can see the attraction for some but paying nearly 200 and not having a fridge even in the room for us wasn?t acceptable.... the bed wasn?t that comfy and the room was dark and gloomy, why the balcony?s are at the back is beyond me but then in the morning the sun shines right through the sticker stained window with no blind... so we were up from 6am... the garden view is a little wild as the view isn?t of the hotel garden! Staff were nice but the place isn?t worth that kind of money per night! If your lower ground the people upstairs sound as though they are about to cave into your room!

Nice weekend family getaway.

Liked: We stayed in Suite 6 was was properly divided into two spaces. This was great for our family stay with a 2yo. I mention this because it was unclear from the pictures and apparently even to the staff, which of the rooms were open-concept and which were separated with a door (important when parents want to stay up later than 7p ;). There were several other families there and we all discussed the difficulty in finding such rooms. The suite had been renovated adequately, though quickly/cheaply so little things like door not latching, remnants of previous cabinets, etc. could have been nicer, but this was easy for us to overlook. Nice individual patio, nice pool, landscaping recently done. Hotel is walking distance to the Village with restaurants, bars, and vineyards.
Disliked: Breakfast was just OK (cereals, breads, hard-boiled egg, yogurt), a little fruit would have been nice. Office hours are limited so we could not get our fireplace re-lit after-hours.

Good place to stay around...

Liked: The ambiance was nice. The staff was also okay.
Disliked: The rooms were small and pretty old. There was no AC and since the rooms were on the first floor the only source of fresh air was the rear sliding glass door which opened up to the common area.
