disappointed as I was double...

Liked: modest but cheap. I could smell cigarette smoke in my room.
Disliked: The accommodation does not have its own parking place as you may expect from the advert on booking.com. After I had come I paid 8 pound for parking at the hotel reception, subsequently the owner noted my plate number and took me to the parking lot which was about 1km away from the accommodation and belonged to the city. When I wanted to leave the parking lot on the following day, I was asked to pay for the parking again, this time 13.50 pound. I returned to the hotel with the expectation the issue would be sorted out. Instead, I was forced to pay at the parking machine again and got a promise to be refunded on the same day. I came back to the parking lot for the second time, the price for parking in a meanwhile increased to 14.10 pound. I paid for it as I was in a hurry. However, I sent the ticket for parking to the owner of the property immediately. After 3 days I contacted the owner again and asked him to keep his promisew. I sent him both tickets for parking again. He just gave me another promise to refund me as soon as possible. If anything changes, I will keep you updated.

More like a hostel than...

Liked: Location
Disliked: Tiny bathroom with small sink, constant noise all night at the front from some kind of machine or fan in neighbouring building. Very unsympathetic conversion of a beautiful historic house. Poor instructions to travel to the car park which cost 8 for overnight. Loud noise from Abode hotel laundry or bin disposal opposite at 6am on a Sunday. Worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time.

Grey friars Lodge has its...

Liked: Location of Grey friars Lodge was located within in a 2 minute walk from the high street. Both train stations West and East are roughly the same walking distance, 10 minutes.
Disliked: Double bed was two singles placed together, a little less comfortable than l hoped.T.V channels where difficult to change due to remote being in need of new battery.Shower hose leaked preventing full pressure during use, trap for tray was blocked causing rapid fill in tray which leaked throughout the bathroom.Furniture was outdated and may require some remodeling.Breakfast was included in cost, but nothing was available during stipulated time of service. WiFi was weak and distorted due to weak signal.
