Quite little piece of paradise
Liked: This was an amazing little find. Japanese styled room, zen garden, heated pool and hot tub. Wine hour.
Disliked: Bed was a little hard

Very nice for a relaxing...
Liked: The room was spacious and clean, we absolutely loved the cheese and wine happy hour which was high quality and generous.
Disliked: The breakfast had very little selection which was disappointing. The pool and hot-tub were not clean- we did come after a storm but this level of hotel should make sure to clean before guests arrive. Generally this is a great hotel but for that price I expected more.

"Gauge" yourselves
Liked: Hot breakfast was good with plenty of fresh fruit, breads and muffin, overnight oats. There were chilaquiles and fried eggs one morning, French toast and scrambled eggs w/cheese the next. They must vary the protein offerings from day to day. Liked that hot beverages, cookies, wines and sake were available 24/7, appreciated the daily wine hour with savory bites, lots of fruit and generous pours. The pool and hot tub area was good. Expected more of a Japanese Zen ryokan feel but it was subtle, more aspects of British colonial.
Disliked: Room 10 garden king was not comfortable. They tried to be stylish but we did not like that the foot of the bed pointed directly toward the front door (bad feng shui), disliked the tight quarters between back of bed and sink/vanity area, did not like the open bathing area (no doors) with transparent glass shower (although double rain shower spouts were whimsical) and jacuzzi bath that we did not use. And the overly large television in the corner near the front door blocked our path, had to watch ourselves each time not to get bashed as we walked from the side of bed to bath area. We DID like the Tivoli audio box, it was very nice and unexpected. The fridge died overnight and the pod coffeemaker sputtered and leaked water while not using all the water in the reservoir. The porch light was very dim so the area outside our door was nearly pitch black in the storm on the first night of our stay.

It was peaceful and restorative....
Liked: We didn't have the breakfast, but did enjoy the wine & cheese hour in the evening. The lounge was comfortable and had beautiful decor and the seating was arranged so you could talk to others.
Disliked: I got repeated texts and email days after our stay was over about check-in and check out.
