Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Jean, Jacksonville Sat, 7 February 2015

It was close to the Amalie Arena; nice clean room at a good rate. It was hard to see the TV at that distance. The only hotel I have stayed in in many years that did not have coffee service in the room. I would stay again if I had a need to visit downtown Tampa.

Liked: Clean rooms; very nice old hotel.
Disliked: No coffee service in room; TV too far from bed.

Liked: The bar was very nice and the proximity to the race was good!
Disliked: The air conditioning unit was taken out so we could not change the air conditioning. Also the pillows were a little big which is hard on the neck.

Liked: The place is beautiful!!!! I felt like I stepped back in time to a heavenly place. Where people were polite and the idea was comfortable and elegance.
Disliked: The tiny bulbs throughout the building were burned out. In our room too.

Liked: Friendly staff!
Disliked: Absolutely no amenities, not even a snack bar. The hotel is warm and the bed was EXTREMELY hard.

Disliked: No water pressure in the shower for hot water. The water pressure was fine when the water was cold. It was almost non-existent for hot water.

Wonderful - 4.6 out of 5

Dave Sat, 25 February 2017

Liked: Lovely old fashioned hotel with character
Disliked: Staff were nice but was under staffed in all departments

Fair - 2.7 out of 5

Joshua Fri, 24 February 2017

Liked: Nice looking place
Disliked: The staff was very rude. I am 22 yrs old and obviously the staff treated me and my friends as kids. Every time we walked into the lobby they would all stare at us like we were doing something wrong. We asked for extra blankets and they were mad and rude. I am sure older people are not treated this way. Me or any of my friends and family will ever stay there again. By the way, we even cleaned the room before we left. Just because we are young, doesn't mean we are irresponsible and that how we were treated.

Disappointing - 2.3 out of 5

Christian Thu, 23 February 2017

Disliked: No Breakfast and no food or vending. No phone contact possible with the bellman or car drops off Parking a problem NO breakfast

Poor - 1.25 out of 5

Liked: Nothing, if I could rate this hotel a 0, I would.
Disliked: I love and I am taking the time to write this because if you are using this site, you are looking for value when you travel, as I do.We travel every other weekend in the spring for my daughters volleyball tournaments. We were at this location for a tournament at the Tampa Convention Center. This is long, but please give it a glance if you are looking at this hotel. The pictures have you believe the hotel is a "grand" restored historic hotel. It is small. Nothing close to the hoopla touted on the website. The pics must have been taken at an angle to mislead potential guests. They also place a hold on your card upon check in for "incidentals," I was told. This should be known up front. Also, their definition of "incidentals" is room damage. I assumed it was for potential charges if we use the phone, bar, or restaurant. We tried to charge a meal and was told, "If I had a question about the hold, I should have asked upon check-in.." I explained I didn't have a question upon check-in due to the commonly known, I thought, definition of incidentals, and I have never had a hold for room damage.... (kinda made me want to break a light bulb to get something for the time value of my money, maybe the last guest did and that's why only half of them worked in the room???)You are not able to charge lunch or dinner from restaurant or drinks at bar to room. It i now two business days later and my charge is still pending with the "incidental fee included. The menu was also exorbitantly overpriced. I saw a few parties in the dining room only all weekend. It is a hotel built in the 1920's, so for me, small elevators, building creeks and moans, or an oldish energy would have been welcome. But...

Liked: Housekeeping staff was accommodating.
Disliked: Front desk and restaurant were messy at best; often indifferent. BUT, when after having made a dinner reservation and then the host seating us in the restaurant to have our waiter say "I think the kitchen is closed" was quite clearly the most ridiculous statement I ever heard. The poor server had obviously never received any training in service either. Such a beautiful space but why if no serving or service is happening. Ironically, the dinner when served was nice, not great but good. Front desk never communicated with detail about parking (to valet or not to valet); took my husband three requests to get a dirty iron replaced and of course, the false alarm fire alarm in the middle of the night.......

Liked: Decor was wonderful. Loved the 1920's look, but slightly modern.
Disliked: Unfortunate false fire alarm at 3AM. Evacuated for 1/2 hour. Hotel needs to install video cameras at fire boxes.
