Jean, Jacksonville, visiting Amalie Arena Sat, 7 February 2015
It was close to the Amalie Arena; nice clean room at a good rate. It was hard to see the TV at that distance. The only hotel I have stayed in in many years that did not have coffee service in the room. I would stay again if I had a need to visit downtown Tampa.
Liked: Clean rooms; very nice old hotel.
Disliked: No coffee service in room; TV too far from bed.

Liked: The only good is its location. Thats it.
Disliked: First of all, it's the worst $200 I've ever spent on a hotel. Despite the good location, external appeal and properly edited photos, this is a very old place. Literally. The noise of elevators, the noise of water in pipes, it will chase constantly. The air conditioner has never been cleaned, I was afraid to turn it on as it shows that it has bacteria and mold. Nobody wants TB or pneumonia? The smell of dampness. I would forgive this to a hotel in New York City, I can't forgive it in Tampa. The three of us lived together, we didn't even have 1 set of toothbrushes in our room, only 1 set of washing-up liquids, 1 piece of soap, 1.5 sets of towels, and toilet paper was already used by someone. Uncomfortable mattresses on the bed. But the view was good. 4 star hotel? Don't make me laugh. 2 star chain hotels are much cozier and cleaner.

Doesn't Follow ADA Regulations
Liked: The restaurant is good. Food is excellent and so is the service.
Disliked: ADA room bed is way too high, should be 20" - 23" in height. Their bed is about 30". I slept in a chair because I couldn't get on. I couldn't find another hotel to stay on such short notice. I have filed an official complaint.

very convenient, but no amenities
Liked: It was very comfortable and close to the Arena, which was the main purpose of our visit. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Disliked: No continental breakfast, dining room not open until lunch. No information in the room, had to call downstairs to confirm checkout. Not much pressure in the shower.

Find somewhere else to stay
Disliked: Have to walk quite a distance up stairs with luggage because front door was locked and lobby is technically on 2nd floor. This place is like the movie The Shinning. Staff was not very helpful. Was scheduled to stay 2 nights and left after 1 night. Staff refused to assist with a possible refund just said sorry about your luck. Dont leave after dark as the local homeless are less than pleasant. They charged $30 to park in a less than desirable place and as stated the the rif raff that hang out are not very friendly

For the price I will...
Liked: The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean.
Disliked: there was a strong smell of gas outside our room and into the hallway. That made me very nervous. The front desk said it was because of rooms that have not been used for a while. I was unhappy about paying for parking as there was an event going on and there was no room in the parking lot. The parking lot only had one way in and out which was difficult because cars were parked everywhere. The valet did try to accommodate but was unable to. Since we had to pay for parking, I find this unacceptable.

I loved it I'll stay...
Liked: I loved it. I had lived in Tampa for 30 years and always hoped that building would be renovated. It is beautiful and majestic, Tampa should be proud. The staff was awesome they gave us an upgrade to the 17th floor, the view was breathtaking. The elevator had beautiful walnut wood. We ate dinner there the food was terrific. Needed to stay in Tampa for a hernia operation the next morning. I'm going to try and stay there anytime I'm in Tampa.
Disliked: I loved it all. I'll stay there every time I need to stay in Tampa.
