Jean, Jacksonville, visiting Amalie Arena Sat, 7 February 2015
It was close to the Amalie Arena; nice clean room at a good rate. It was hard to see the TV at that distance. The only hotel I have stayed in in many years that did not have coffee service in the room. I would stay again if I had a need to visit downtown Tampa.
Liked: Clean rooms; very nice old hotel.
Disliked: No coffee service in room; TV too far from bed.

Liked: Great room. Good view of city. Bar in lobby very classy. Front desk check in very helpfull
Disliked: Expected more amenities. Only 2 bottles of water in room refrigerator. Would have thought it would have been well stocked. Tv has limited channel choices seemed to be antenna tv instead of cable or satellite. Hotel did not seem to be run like a first clas

Decent but old.
Disliked: The betting was super rough, the hotel is extremely old and there are cracks in the walls and fixtures.

Can't fault the value for...
Liked: The room was of the same size and same level of comfort as you'd expect from other downtown hotels (Marriott and Hilton). And the foyer has been restored to its historic grandeur. But I paid under $200 a night for a week when the Marriot would have been over $400 so you can't fault it for an affordable hotel in the downtown area.
Disliked: No breakfast at all (not a problem for me as I was at a convention that included breakfast, but something to be aware of). The bar and restaurant seemed to be open only some nights and were so quiet I wasn't sure whether they were serving or not. The gym was open 24 hours but perhaps a bit limited. All in all, it felt a bit strange - all that space but little life. That was fine for me as I was out all the days and evenings at meetings, but I'm not sure it would be my first choice for a leisure break.
