Such potential, but in need...
Liked: Building is a gorgeous Georgian home, and would’ve been wonderful in its day. So much potential! Receptionist is lovely and my bed was comfortable.
Disliked: There was definitely a fire alarm that triggered and it startled me as it was outside my room (which it should do so! I was in number 6).It was switched off before I was able to leave the room so went to bed. I was worried to find out that not all people heard it and nor was there roll call conducted. The property is also advertised as having spa facilities and a bar. The spa and bar have been shut since Covid, so not sure why there are photos still posted advertising this. It’s a shame about Anita‘s comments and review. She was around the weekend I was there with my friends. She seemed very pleasant and in agreement with the issues that she overheard the group I was with discussing. But it appears it was a facade - I guess it isn’t just books that have two faces. I think she misses the point that good and bad feedback is important so improvements can be made and businesses can run more successfully.

A lovely Edwardian house with...
Liked: The downstairs is absolutely amazing in terms of historical architecture. Up in my room, the bed was comfortable and the ensuite gave me the best showers I have had for a long time. The delicious breakfasts were freshly cooked once I had arrived in the breakfast room each morning, and all the staff (Chelsea, Rob, Aaron and some others whose names I don't remember, sorry) were absolutely lovely and professtional while being very welcoming.I was, however, very disappointed with the negative comments of some of the other guests on Sunday morning after breakfast, as they were clearly under incorrect expectations of a B&B in an Edwardian building, seemingly expecting service of the Ritz or Savoy standard, but paying less for each night than in a Travelodge!I absolutely loved my stay, and would recommend this place to other Aussie friends visiting the area as the standard was well above that of a typical country hotel or motel in Australia.Covid hasn't been kind to the hospitality industry worldwide, and it is important that guests understand this before exchanging harsh words with the staff who are doing their utmost for their guests.
Disliked: Grumbling guests who assumed a car alarm activation during the night was a fire alarm, and were unhappy with the lack of emergency response to the non-emergency! These seemed to be the type of people who were looking for something to complain about to support a demand for some sort of refund from Booking.comThey loved their first night of two, but egged each other on to complain about minor things on the second morning so that they could claim the place wasn't exactly what they had booked. I was very disappointed with their attitude of wanting something for nothing!

Superb
Liked: Quirky star for really friendly. Really interesting place to stay due to its history
Disliked: A little tired in places but owners are bringing that up to date. We all need a bit of TLC

Disappointing
Liked: The building is absolutely beautiful and have kept orginal features in communal areas. Chelsea on reception was amazing and sp helpful.
Disliked: Rooms were in a poor state. Damp and mould, unclean. Soap bar found on top of shower, dusty, mugs were stained. Mirror was too high. And dirty. Wardrobe was broken and log repair was over a month ago. Door to balcony didn't shut properly. Toilet constant dripping. Bed was rock hard in 1 room and way to soft in 2nd room. Ripped bedding. Breakfast for £12.50 was poor one Bacon, sausage, has brown and egg! Service from Breakfast team was poor. No good morning ect and served by a lovely 10 year old girl.

Very good
Liked: Lovely olde worlde Victorian grade II listed B&B in beautiful settings. Our room was spacious, cosy and clean. We had an issue with our toilet being blocked a couple of times but the issue was quickly resolved both times. There's a kettle with instant coffee and tea in the room. The shower cubicle could do with a little shelf/holder for your soap or shampoo but otherwise fine. The full English breakfast was ok and the staff was really polite and helpful. This is not a 5* hotel so we didn't expect luxury but we loved our stay and, for the price, cannot complain and will definitely return.
Disliked: We didn't like Trowbridge. The area doesn't have much to offer but Fieldways location is ideal for visiting Bath and other lovely areas of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
