Poor - 1 out of 5

Dotson, Frederick, MD, visiting AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 Wed, 12 March 2014

Generally the whole experience at the hotel was bad. Room was very small; bathroom was extremely small - couldn't even sit down on toilet. Shower/bathtub didn't have a door on it so when you took a shower the water would run all over the bathroom floor. No exhaust fan in bathroom. A/C didn't really work, always hot in room. Parking was ridiculously expensive - $120 for 2 days of parking. Room was very small, just like the bathroom.

Liked: Location to AMC Theater; staff was nice though.
Disliked: Everything including the price per room.

Hair found in bath tub; forgot towels; room not ready as promised on arrival. For all the aggrevation we received a whole $39.00 credit towards breakfast. Very disappointing.

This is an excellent place to stay for a concert at the Beacon Theater. It's within walking distance to the theater and you can also see strawberry fields the next day. A metro subway station is also close. The staff was great. The room was comfortable. The neighborhood is safe.

Great location, easy stay!

Liked: The staff were very kind and overall service we couldn?t fault. Also the daily allowance of Fiji water was a great detail/ addition to the stay! However, location was the best to get around and a perfect way to spend time in NYC.
Disliked: Having stayed in other properties of a similar standard we were surprised to find there were no in room tea / coffee facilities that come as a standard. It?s very dated and dirty the rooms themselves. They definitely need a good scrub especially the curtains plus bathroom needs a serious makeover as it looked like it was falling apart! Otherwise for what it?s worth not much else to say.

Liked: view of Lincoln Center
Disliked: construction around the area, had to circle the hotel a few times to find entrance. No big deal.

miserable except for the opera

Liked: location next to the Met Opera
Disliked: Because I faced a courtyard there were apartments right across from my only window. Unfortunately a lot of those apartments had their window shades and curtains up and could look right into my room--within about 15 feet from me. That meant I had to keep this huge, heavy, thick dark curtain pulled across my window at all times, making the room as dark as a tomb. Very little lighting in the room in the first place...with this curtain closed in a room that was already painted in dark grays and blacks it was not a pleasant experience. There was no coffee making kit provided and no coffee available in the lobby at any time. The refrigerator in my room didn't work properly. There was no information about the hotel anywhere in the room. There was no complimentary map of New York, no access to newspapers, nothing even remotely friendly or welcoming in the place. Not the Empire I remember from all my trips to NY to go to the Met

Liked: Always love staying at the Empire. This time just wasn?t up to par
Disliked: This is my 6th time to stay here. Our A/C didn?t work, so when they came to turn it on, it had to constantly run or it would completely shut off again.

This is a great hotel...

Liked: Hotel is right across the street from Lincoln Center, steps from Columbus Circle and Central Park and a short walk to Times Square and 5th Avenue shopping. The hotel staff is very attentive and helpful.
Disliked: The rooms are a little tired and warm, the could use some updating and refreshing.

I would stay here and...

Liked: The room was big, the bed was very comfortable.
Disliked: Just wish the breakfast was a bit more dazzling for the money you pay. This breakfast does not have a lot of healthy choices for kids or adults. The room was comfortable and clean as far as bed sheets and pillows, the furniture such as chair and bed stands were beat up a bit. I wish all hotels would stop using fabrics you cant wipe down after each guest. My room had a chair made out of some 1970 or 1980, (fake suede I think) and God knows you can't clean that after each use. Fake leather or simply fashionable wood or metal would be a lot more user friendly and most of all sanitary for all chairs and couches and bed stands. The shower pressure needs to be looked into. But the location to the Opera, Ballet, Symphony is par excellent.
