Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Renee, Brampton, visiting Capitol Event Theatre Toronto Thu, 2 January 2014

This hotel is overpriced due to it's lack of visual appeal, cleanliness, ambiance and service. I won't ever stay there again. It's very run down and low quality.

Liked: The room was clean, decorated nicely.
Disliked: The hotel staff were a bit slow to check in; the booking stated there would be breakfast which was untrue. The parking lot was so icy I almost fell. The hallways were filthy! There were piles of towels and garbage bags on the floor when we checked in and out. Ice machine was broken on two floors. There was a curtain that looked like a sheet covering the restaurant entrance. The bath tub was dingy and the TV was not a flat screen with basic cable. Front desk was very slow answering calls from the room. The elevators were dirty and scary looking with parts taped up! Some carpeting was taped in lobby and elevator!

Horrible Experience!!

Liked: -Staff very nice
Disliked: -Floor smelled strongly of weed upon exiting elevator-Locks on door didn't look safe & had been forced open in the past as there was a weird contraption bolted to the door-Room reeked of majiuana which was coming from adjoining room next door! I didn't book a room with an adjoining room so I was not happy to discover that & didn't feel safe having an adjoining room with strangers!-Room was pitch black with no light switches on wall so I had to walk in total blackness to find lamps. There was one standing lamp but it was very dim. When I tried to turn on lamp on nightstand, it wouldn't turn on. Then I found it wasn't plugged in. When I went to plug it in, it fell back out of wall socket! So we had virtually no lights in the whole room!-Room was frigidly cold & heater wasn't even on. I couldn't fall asleep until 3am because it took hours for room to warm up-Asked for extra pillows upon check-in but was told there were 4 pillows on each bed so I was only given 1 extra. Our room actually had only 2 super thin pillows on each bed & no extra blankets or pillows so room was short 4 pillows to start with-Blankets on beds were super thin & scratchy & provided no warmth-Beds were hard as rocks! We had a horrible sleep to say the least!-Room missing standard items like notepad, pen, iron, ironing board, etc. The major thing was no alarm clock!-Didn't watch tv or use WiFi so can't comment on those items-Most disgusting thing was dried red lipstick or nail polish all over the faucet in the washroom! Speaks well to the standard of cleaning! Wish I had taken photos of everything!-Upon checkout, I advised the staff of our horrible experience. Gentleman was very nice and said our floor shouldn't even have been rented out as it was in disrepair & was the last floor to be renovated. He couldn't provide rebate as we booked through booking.com-Photos & description on hotel website & booking.
