Hotel Description
Old-world charm a wonderful neighborhood and interesting design bring our guests to the door of the European-style Biltmore Suites. Reasonable rates are another point in its favor. Built in 1880 the historic building isn't short on interesting architectural details. The five-story red-brick mansion has a distinctive gabled roof and a central tower. The 25 non-smoking rooms have an old-fashioned ambiance with frilly curtains and floral wallpaper but also up-to-date amenities like free Wi-Fi. All the rooms are individually decorated but some include four-poster or brass beds. Each includes thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge and a coffeemaker. The prices excellent for a downtown hotel are much less than you'd expect. On the edge of the Mount Vernon historic district in the center of downtown Biltmore Suites is a few blocks from the string of shops known as Antiques Row. The hotel is a 20-minute walk to the Baltimore Aquarium Maryland Science Center and the other attractions surrounding the Inner Harbor. It's about 25 minutes to Orioles Park at Camden Yard home of the Baltimore Orioles the Babe Ruth Museum and the Sports Legends Museum. You can reach most of the attractions by the MTA's Light Rail. Amtrak's Penn Station is less than a mile north and 11 miles south (and on the light-rail line) is Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport. Those in search of Baltimore's past will be drawn to the Biltmore Suites one of the city's most storied lodgings. The rooms are large but the price is most definitely not.

Liked: Large rooms
Disliked: Strong odor of cleaning supplies, rough thin towels, public areas are dingy and worn, the "breakfast" was a joke. A carafe of coffee, nondairy creamer, and a scant assortment of off-brand individually wrapped snack cakes.

Liked: It's location, character and history.
Disliked: It's quite old and its age shows. Could use some upkeep...but average for a two star and relatively inexpensive stay in Baltimore.

Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Jack Fri, 12 January 2018

Liked: Very historic building and historic quality furnishings. Staff was friendly, and helpful.
Disliked: We were unprepared for this hotel. Being an historic building there is no "Ground Level." There are 12 steps from the sidewalk to check in desk. There are 76 steps to the top floor. There is no onsite parking. They use a garage 2 blocks away.

Disliked: Climbing stairs could present a challenge for some people Not a problem for me

Poor - 0.5 out of 5

Adam Fri, 12 January 2018

Liked: It's location. It was close enough to the Inner Harbor area. But... I waited like 10 minutes in the front entrance waiting for the front desk person to let me in. He only came to the front door after a food delivery man brought food for him. Not good
Disliked: The interior was a little scary. The carpets in the entryway, the main lobby, the entire stairwell, hallways, and the rooms are so old, that it was hard to believe they were clean. Everything was very old. When I arrived in my room, it smelled of BO.

Good - 3.5 out of 5

Nathanael Fri, 12 January 2018

Liked: Charming decor, authentic antiques, etc. Good location, nice staff, and lots of room.
Disliked: Old building, so the facilities aren't exactly tip-top. Also, some light switches didn't work, and the door way is strange (two doors facing each other, clearly a converted living room parlor). Some upgrades are in order, but overall, nice stay.
