Never stayed, got bumped to...

Liked: See previous review, never got to stay, we got bumped to The Draper for some reason, never explained, just told walk there instead!

Liked: We rocked up late at night (after flight delays and notifying via booking.com that we were running late) and as we got to reception, guy behind the desk handed us a tiny piece of paper with "The Draper" and address on it and told us we'd been moved, that was it! We had to walk the block and half, which technically isn't that far but we'd been travelling all day, delayed long periods in airport. No explanation, nothing! Lucky for them, the Draper seemed MUCH nicer!
Disliked: Communication would have helped as we had friends travelling the next morning and we had to let them know too ...

Disliked: They didn’t let us stay even though I had confirmed the reservation less than 3 days before. The hotel looked closed when we arrived, we went in, the waiting area was taped off with yellow caution tape and there was a large table with military and other official personnel sitting at it with those wands they use at airports to scan you and all sorts of other stuff. We were told our room was occupied, the hotel was being decorated, the government had bought the hotel and they couldn’t tell us anything as it was classified.It really felt like the beginning of some kind of movie where aliens have landed and there’s a cover up going on.I wasn’t happy of course after confirming the reservation, the reason being I had read that people were showing up and not being able to check in as we were (I still have the confirmation email)They said they didn’t have my details to contact me (I would have preferred to know in advance), when I said I had an email from them I could show them they claimed it wasn’t from them!They sent us by taxi to another Best Western on 30th - this hotel was fine but I wouldn’t have chosen it due to its locationAlthough on reflection goodness knows what was going on at the Herald Square hotel, so I am glad we didn’t stay there.

Hotel cancelled and relocated somewhere...

Disliked: The fact that The Best Western Hotel cancelled our booking last minute and relocated us in a different hotel was very disappointing. The other hotel was fine and closeby, although it had no cleaningservice. We got the message only some hours before checking into the hotel, after we heard that our flight from Amsterdam to New York was also cancelled. We were very busy rescheduling flights and were about to meet a family member in the hotel upon arrival.I find it very strange to relocate people at such short notice, expecting them to have internet abroad and to receive and check their messages all the time.I got no reaction on my message/complaint which I sent on Booking so far.

Very good

Liked: Great location and really comfortable bed. Lovely decor and the staff were friendly and helpful. The thing was we were transferred to the Draper hotel so this review should be for the Draper.
Disliked: We were transferred to the Draper and I would have liked to be informed of this before our arrival.
