Great staff and location, clean...

Liked: Friendly efficient staff, clean room, and a great location. Very walkable to Downtown, but not too busy.
Disliked: I had an early morning noisy neighbor upstairs - can't be sure whether this was due to the person (for which the hotel cannot be blamed), or that the floors are not sound proofed well. I would stay here again, but would opt for an upstairs room,

Great stop in Santa Barbara...

Liked: Hotel in a quiet location with parking in front of the rooms, a pool, and even a small independent café in the parking lot. Very clean and comfortable rooms, with a nice bed, bathroom and television - equipped with a fridge and bottles of water and biscuits on arrival next to the coffee machine.
Disliked: Just a little bit too expensive for what's on offer, having stayed in similarly-equipped establishments around California during the same period, but I guess that's part of the nature of reserving accommodation.There's a slight gap at the bottom of the bedroom door that was large enough to make it so that the cold air (on the night we were there) overpowered the best efforts of the heating/AC unit in the room - basically we had it on full heating, but it never managed to get warm enough.The location, while nice and quiet, and definitely in Santa Barbara, is far enough from the beach or center of the city that you do need a car, but Best Western does offer other (albeit comparatively more expensive) locations in the city to cater for this.

Disliked: We were put in an apartment to the edge of the site, next to one that has about 10 teenage boys partying all night. The electrics were all out on the bedroom floor so we had no heat, power or light. The front staff didn’t know how to resolve it.

Wonderful hotel, very poor first...

Liked: Very comfortable accommodation. Quiet room and location, and I particularly loved the jacuzzi and heated outdoor pool. These were a real treat in the cooler temperatures of the spring. The staff were mostly very polite and welcoming. I also appreciated the laundry room. Thank you for a great stay in Santa Barbara.
Disliked: The receptionist who greeted me on my day of arrival was incredibly frosty and unwelcoming. I believe his name was "Jesus". After my greeting him and saying I had a reservation, his first words to me were "I need your ID and credit card", as if he were some kind of authoritarian law enforcement officer. He didn't warm up after this either, and gave me the fakest of smiles when I tried to continue to be polite with him (not easy given his attitude). This wasn't the kind of reception you'd expect when paying £240 a night for your accommodation. Fortunately all the other receptionists I spoke with, four more in total, were much more welcoming and polite. Still, it left a bad taste in my mouth for what was otherwise a wonderful stay. First impressions go a long way, and it would be good for this member of staff at this otherwise exceptional hotel to bear this in mind.

fine stay and good value...

Liked: Nice pool area, room clean and modern, comfy bet, good location, tasty restaurant on site with good breakfast. Room rates were low as I was visiting mid-week in early Spring (weekend rates were at least double, which would have been quite pricey -and this is a relatively basic hotel.). Location is good, beautiful hilly residential area next to downtown SB (next to Cottage Hospital precisely).

Liked: Quiet. Staff gracious and helpful.Parking was easy.
Disliked: Room cold, brought portable heater. Next day maintenance fixed.Lighting uneven. Only mirror in bedroom on closet door, but dark area.Duvet too hot, sheet only too cold.Book.com = free bkfst, but NO.
