The Folklife Festival at Seattle Center is a must-attend event if you are a "folky" in the Seattle area Memorial Day weekend. The event is free, though attendees are encouraged to make a donation at the gate. There are a wide variety of outdoor concerts, workshops, and participatory events for four days - Friday through Monday. Food vendors have better-than-average fair food and vendors have interesting crafts and imports to sell. People-watching is highly entertaining. The Festival is kid-friendly with stages and activities especially for them. If the weather is nice, strollers may be difficult to maneuver among the masses of people and you won't have the option to easily travel across the grassy areas, but lots of folks seem to manage. It's a comparativley laid-back, friendly urban scene from my 25 years experience!
