Yakitoria Restaurant, London

Yakitoria Restaurant, 25 Sheldon Square, Paddington, London, GB

Yakitoria Restaurant

Overlooking the water in London's Paddington Basin, Yakitoria restaurant's two-level Japanese dining emporium is a rising star among London’s hot-ticket eateries. Its open-plan ground floor has an à la carte dining area and a colourfully cosy sushi bar with kushi yaki grill, while downstairs holds a less formal dining room and bar. Yakitoria's gleaming industrial modernity is matched by new-style cooking which fuses Japanese traditions with ingredients from around the world that particularly appeal to western palates. Order pizza sushi and you’ll get chicken or crab meat rolled with avocado, tobiko, peppers and parmesan that’s just out from under the grill. And there’s so much more; artful sushi combos, self-assembly skewers, and fantastic made-to-order lobster dishes. Brilliant, affordable food.

Restaurant Group Information

Yakitoria restaurant makes a pretty funky venue. Its basement plays the role of dedicated function space for up to 60 people seated, or double that standing. There are four plasma screens down there for watching the sumo. The sassy lounge bar provides a comfy space for pre and post event drinks from a long cocktail menu of modern twists on classics using sake, shochu, and plum wine. The bar also serves a not-very-common choice of soft drinks, such hot ginger beer, and guava juice. Both levels are set up for groups big and small with cosy booths, ergonomic chairs and large round tables. In summer, you can grab your sake and sit outside where there are 56 covers. Lovely service.

Essential Travel Info:
The official car parking facilities for Paddington Station are located on Bishop’s Bridge Road close to the junction with Westbourne Terrace. Until the bridge re-opens the easiest route to the restaurant is to walk through Paddington Station. If you enter the station via the slip road off Eastbourne Terrace then the station signs indicate the quickest route to Sheldon Square and Harrow Road without passing via the main concourse.

When Bishop’s Bridge re-opens in late spring 2006 a walkway to Sheldon Square will allow easy access to the restaurant. The bridge will link Eastbourne Terrace and Harrow Road, allowing quick access to the restaurant from Notting Hill or the West End.
