Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - Westside
Uncle Jack’s steakhouse restaurant in Manhattan has nerve. ‘New York’s Best Steakhouse’ says the sign -- many of Manhattan’s meat-eaters agree. The décor is high Victorian in the American style: red velvet fringed curtains, chandeliers, leaning mirrors, leather chairs, and proper table linens and crystal. Cosy curving booths attract dating twosomes and dramatic opera boxes overlook the main dining room. Waiters in tuxes zip around the place, making everyone happy. Uncle Jack’s serves only USDA Prime beef dry-aged 21 days, and Kobe beef, as well as a splendid array of seafood and shellfish. Start with the Caesar salad so you’ll have plenty of room for the signature dish, Uncle Jack’s Porterhouse, a 48-ounce prime steak that features both the filet and the New York strip cut (relax, it’s for two people or more), with a side of sautéed onions, then finish with crème brulee, accompanied by something from the award-winning wine list. Near Lincoln Tunnel and very usefully near Madison Square Garden and the Javits Center, Uncle Jack’s gets packed out with Knicks and Rangers fans and there’s always a bubbling atmosphere.
Booking Tip: Please try to make your New York booking at least 48 hours in advance.
