Restaurant Sat Bains , Nottingham

Restaurant Sat Bains , Lenton Lane , Nottingham, GB

Restaurant Sat Bains

Its sole Michelin-starred restaurant, Sat Bains is Nottingham’s top destination dining spot. Roux scholar and Derby man Bains has clearly loved ever minute of transforming the former Victorian farmhouse on a delightfully peaceful spot on the River Trent (just two miles from the city centre) into a boutique country-style restaurant with rooms. It’s a pleasure being there. When you enter, you’re offered drinks in a lovely lounge bar, and three menus – dinner, seasonal, tasting – to browse. All change frequently, though key ingredients such as scallops, organic salmon and foie gras, reappear in a variety of dishes – each a memorable marvel of flavours, textures and presentation. Superb service by Bains’ wife Amanda and her team rounds off the heavenly experience.

Sat Bains has been voted AA Restaurant of the Year 2007 and has also been given the BMW Square Meal Award for Best UK Restaurant 2007.
