Nick's Restaurant
Originally a 16th century coaching inn set in a listed town house tucked in a corner of Oakham’s Market Square, Nick’s enjoys a good reputation for its scrumptious food and perfect hospitality. Guests (typically adventurous foodies) are welcomed in the drawing room for canapés and drinks before being shown to the intimate, boldly-coloured dining room. Talented head chef Dameon Clarke delivers a confident mix of European and British dishes using top seasonal, local (and often expensive) ingredients. Take his famous fishcakes made with lobster and foie gras, served only at lunch only. His dinner menu is richer again, typically featuring marinated foie gras with Muscat jelly, roast Gressingham duck with parsnip puree, and poached lobster with tomato sorbet.
