Douglas VI is co-owner of the Brite Spot in Echo Park, and his most recent accomplishment has been to bring the once-forgotten diner back to the forefront of Los Angeles.Michael Wynsen is the head chef at Machete. As a former starving artists living in Los Angeles, Wynsen understandably developed an intense interest in food. He took a hiatus from art to attend the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, and graduated with honors (among other awards of excellence) from the school's Cordon Bleu program. A prestigious apprenticeship at Celestino Drago's latest Beverly Hills venture, Enoteca Drago, followed. Next, it was off to the corporate kitchen of Nordstrom in West Los Angeles before being recruited by Machete.Wynsen has created an innovative yet familiar menu for Machete customers. Diners can choose from a variety of appetizers to begin their culinary exploration of America, including Abuelita's Spicy Potato or Chicken Taquitos (served with pico de gallo, guacamole and jalapeno cilantro crema), Anne's Magic Mushrooms (bite size crimini mushrooms stuffed with cheese, garlic, cracker crumbs, butter, red wine and pepper), and the special Cocktail Meatballs (beef and sausage meatballs with house BBQ sauce)
