Kettners
Opened in 1867 by Auguste Kettner, chef to Napoleon III; Kettners is one of the oldest restaurants in London, and something of an institution. It was a favourite of Oscar Wilde and Lily Langtry back in the day and now it remains popular with decadent Londoners and West End theatre-goers. The elegant interior is divided into a brasserie and Champagne bar, a club-like space known as ‘The Apartment’, and the Pudding Bar, which is ideal for breakfast and late-night desserts. The brasserie menu features classic French dishes like duck cassoulet; braised beef Bourguignon; scallops and champagne risotto; and leek and Gruyère tart. Why not start the evening with a glass of vintage fizz in the bar or pop in for a post-theatre pudding?
