Chelsea Clinton's date brought her here all the way from Oxford just to impress her - and who could fault him? The modern Italian menu here is of a very high order, while the elegant and comfortable dining room with its glass ceiling that retracts in warm weather, leather banquettes and hushed sophistication is just right for an evening out. There is, of course, the traditional Italian warm welcome and pride of service. Il Convivio has been a quiet favourite with local politicos and celebrities for some time. What's cooking? Try black spaghetti with fresh lobster and spring onions, or stuffed leg of rabbit wrapped in pancetta with aubergine caviare. The first-floor private dining room in this Georgian townhouse is very elegant, with ruby walls and huge Roman urns - perfect for private celebrations. Seating up to 14 people on an oval table it also has its own little lounge area where a few guests can sit on the gorgeous leather couches, while the rest stand and mingle with a glass of champers in hand. Book your group in here and you will be allocated a waiter/waitress for the evening to take care of your every need. You can even bring along your own CDs to play through out the evening.
