Gabriel's Inn
Ijamsville, named after Plummer Ijams and Ijam's Mill, is the beautiful location of Gabriel's Inn. The building now known as Gabriel's Inn was built in 1862 and six Welsh families lived there. In 1896, Dr. George H. Riggs created a sanitarium here "for the care and treatment of Nervous and Mental Disease of women." In 1968, Guy Gabriel purchased the property and turned it into Gabriel's French Provincial Inn. Here, he raised his family and ran his new establishment. Gabriel also produced many of the meats served within the restaurant. In December 1998, the DeLawder family bought the building. To continue Gabriel's tradition, they intend to raise their family here and reestablish Gabriel's Inn to the fine dining French restaurant it was for so many years.
