Eight over Eight, London

Eight over Eight, 392 Kings Road, London, GB

Eight over Eight

Let's clear up the name first - it's a good luck thing that promises success to this restaurant, and why shouldn't it? Eight Over Eight is a gorgeous space with dark wood floors, light walls, oriental lampshades like upside-down parasols, and eastern-influenced window coverings. It's much like E&O, its sister restaurant up in Notting Hill, in groovy minimalist style and mod-Japanese menu. The a la carte includes catagories like dim sum - don't miss the edamame with soy and mirin or the chilli salt squid - futomaki rolls and sushi, tempura, roasts (like suckling pig), and special dishes like Eight Over Eight's own version of black cod with miso dressing. Desserts are inspired, including chocolate pudding with green tea ice cream, and lychee granita with mango steen. This is a very smart location for a memorable meal.

Restaurant Group Information

Eight Over Eight has rapidly become one of Chelsea's favourite dining spots, and you couldn't choose a better venue if you're looking for lovely surroundings, intriguing menu and first-rate service. Groups of up to fourteen may gather in the main dining room (lunch only) where the orientally-influenced decor is a Zen combination of dark wood floors, pale walls, and eastern lighting and window screens. Or your group may better suit the equally smart and minimalist private dining room. Christmas party for your yoga group? Thank-you soiree for sophisticated clients? Eight Over Eight is a great choice. The menu includes marvellous dishes like edamame with soy and mirin, chilli salt squid, daikon salad with ginger dressing, seabass sashimi with lemon oil, roast suckling pig, black cod with miso dressing, and mango five spice tart with lemongrass ice cream. This is new-style eastern dining with bags of style.
