With so much energy being expended at Xscape, Milton Keyne's Mecca to extreme sports, its no wonder Dexters is almost always packed with hungry families and young professionals feasting on the all-American menu. Dexters specialises in chargrills - fresh 8oz steaks, chicken wings, baby back ribs, and big burgers like the classic with bacon and cheese; all served with chips. Kids get their own menu and meal deals, plus a colouring sheet and crayons. The split-level space near the Snowdome feels very New York - all black, red and white. And the vibe is always relaxed and sociable. Gets very busy at weekends.

Parties of up to 80 can get together onthe main floor, and a further 50 in the raised area. Sociable banquette seating, and booths for groups of 4, 6 and 8. No party menus, so everyone eats directly from the menu, which has platter and sharing dishes. Brief international wine list; everything under £20. Usual bottled beers and soft drinks, including lovely smoothies.
