This has quickly become one of our favourite spots! The staff is very friendly and efficient and the food and wine excellent! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Excellent as always! Food was great, wine was out of this world - pricy but you get what you pay for. Will be definetly going back for another special occasion, looking forward to some more cheese!

Lovely simple set lunch menu and a more expansive a la carte - very good wine menu too, although they had run out of the least expensive, leaving red wine starting at £24 a bottle. Still, thoroughly good cooking, great service and atmosphere.

Vivat Bacchus is a genuine find. Excellent wine selection (as one would expect from a wine-themed venue). Good, creative menu, not inexpensive but good value at the price level. Cordial staff but not intrusive. A great place to linger, we had just a main followed by a selection of cheeses from the extensive range on offer.

Vivat Bacchus is a fine restuarant, with well cooked food and a good selection of wine. Though the menue may not be huge, the selction on offer is diversed and could probably cater for all persons. The service was with a smile with the right amount of attention provided (not too fussy and not ignored). Great place to take a date, or small group of friends for a good meal out.

Dinner at Vivat Bacchus was excellent once again. The wine, of course, is the reason the go!

Starters on the whole were good across the board, despite my squid being slightly chewy and the chilli jelly unfortunately leaving nothing to the imagination. Wagyu beef was the popular choice for main, which was cooked to prefection, however it still couldn't justify being almost twice the price of almost every other dish on the menu. The highlight of the meal/restaurant, were the fine selection of cheeses that greet you on arrival, which again did not disappoint, along with the banana sponge!

The idea of visiting a wine cellar and authentic cheese room intrigued us and so we paid Vivat Bacchus a visit. We ended up first entering the upstairs wine bar which is very large and commercial - a dissappointment - and so we welcomed the knowledge that the restaurant where we would dine was around the corner. The layout is siimple and elegant and the menu hit the mark perfectly. Service in the wine cellar was unnecessarily snooty but the man with a passion for cheese and port made us smile.

First time at the restaurant. booked because one of the party is a qualified wine expert and thought it would be a good experience. ambience is good but restaurant was quite empty (Friday). we chose wine from the cellar - a good selection - but the person that helped us choose and then according to my friend did not serve the wine properly. Food was good - special with meat and cost reasonable for the quantity. unimpressed with side orders. could do a bit better but still not bad at all.

Vivat Bacchus - A limited menu selection for a group of 8 was a shame but fortunately the steaks were very good. Wine also delicious if expensive. Cheese board simply brilliant - do not miss!

I booked Vivat Bacchus based on the previous reviews on Top Table and I was genuinely impressed. Its not a cheap night out, but from the attentive service at the bar to help us choose our first bottle of wine, to the chat from the waitress, to the divine cheese room, this was a really special night out. I'll definitely be back!
