At Village East, small portions but good food. Service is inconsistent.

Village East is in a quiet road in Bermondsey, very close to London Bridge Stn. It is fun and buzzy and immediately welcoming. Staff are excellent, helpful but not opressive. Food is good, bread with oil & balsamic immediately on the table and free chilled tap water which is constantly refilled. Good cocktails, not cheap. Mains good size and flavoursome. Wine reasonable even by the glass. Tables are close and it does get noisy but adds to convivial environment. Worth a visit.

Food at Village East wasn't quite as good as previously - the soft shell crab was overdone - but still a very enjoyable evening, served by friendly and entertaining staff, and all set in a great atmosphere.

I took 12 of my colleagues here last night and was congratuated on my choice. The food was fantastic, wine excellent and decor very cool and relaxing. Would definitely recommend, espically if someone else is paying!

Village East was the perfect location to have dinner with my daughter. Service exceptional, good ambience. 40% off all food made it even better value. We both had the Scallops with belly pork followed by the rib eye cooked to perfection. Although only 2 scallops for £9.40 is a tad mean! Dreamy sweets rounded the evening off with the warm chocolate fondant that melts in your month and the stunning cheesecake. Would recommend always booking via Toptable for those that want to eat early and save.

We went on a monday night for our anniversary. the restaurant was busy enough not to be dead, but not too rammed. wonderful service, great food - we will be returning! the 40% toptable offer made it just £50 for a meal for 2 inc a bottle of wine!

most of us had the roast which was nice. beef was better as the lamg was still gamey. service is nice but the coming of foods is not synchronized and i personally had to wait for some time while my friends kept eating and, well, finished their appetizers when i got mine. otherwise, ambience is great and food quite tasty!

Food was fantastic but we had to wait about 45 minutes between starter and main course and that just dampened the night. However, hope that improves

Good restaurant with an extensive wine list, and varied menu, specifically fish (although it was easter weekend). Not cheap but then again quality rarely is, and a lovely setting for dinner with a relaxed atmosphere and enough space between tables so that you don't feel overcrowded. Would certainly recommend it to friends.

great meal at village east, this New York style cocktail lounge does well with its food menu, a great bolt hole on Bermondsey Street.

Village East has always appealed to me when looking in from Bermondsey Street. When we arrived (Friday night) the bar was humming - and was almost too loud to have a sensible conversation. But the dining area was quieter and more intimate which was relaxing. The service overall was excellent - almost too attentive, and the food was very good, but very expensive. I enjoyed the night out, but could do as well elsewhere for less.

Village East has a very good feel, Bermondsey St is becoming a great place to hang out. The bar was heaving when we turned up but had a nice buzz. The restaurant was also very busy and even though the staff were friendly and competent service was too slow. Still I would go back for the food, which my girlfriend said was sublime.
