Reviews of Vanilla

Our evening at Vanilla was thoroughly enjoyable and some of the best food we've ever eaten. The variety of tasting menus gives you lots of choice and makes a nice change from the standard, larger course format. We chose the 4 dish tasting menu for £40, but with all the little extra touches it felt like so much more and excellent value for such quality. Each dish is complex with all flavours complimenting each other perfectly. A real gem - I almost don't want too many people to know

Really interesting and great food, fantastic service and our waiter really knew his stuff. High quality approach and ingredients - would definitely go again.

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading terrible reviews about Vanilla from other websites and then glowing ones on Toptable. The bar area being all white in colour is certainly different but perhaps tries a little too hard. Saying that the staff couldn't be more helpful and the cocktails were great. The 40GBP tasting menu was good value for money, but included odd combinations such as potatoes dipped in edible clay. The food was good but now i've been there once I'm not sure i would return.

Make sure whoever you go with doesn't wear white you could loose her in the bar....it's very white..! The Vanilla cocktails was very tasty! Excellent meal, service was absolutely faultless. We went on a Thursday evening and it was quite quiet but that didn't detract from the evening in anyway. It is slightly out of the way but I'd recommend the trip.

This was my second time back at Vanilla and it is still the most inventive and creative epicurean experience in London. Last time I took a friend for her birthday and this time work colleagues and everyone loved it.

We had the 3 course lunch menu at Vanilla. Excellent, very fresh ingredients with inventive combinations and well judged seasoning. More enjoyable than my previous 1 Michelin star meal! Warm friendly service. Top marks to our waiter who almost singlehandedly served the whole dining room, topping up water without asking and refolding napkins when we left the table to use loo.

Vanilla was a great choice for lunch. Great value for money with the 2 courses for £14.50 and the portions were perfect. Friendly attentive service without being too intrusive. Will definitely go again.

After booking (and paying a deposit) we read some online reviews which slated the food and the decor. What had we let ourselves in for. We needn't have worried. A really enjoyable and rather luxurious lunch (and we were just on the TT set menu, free glass of wine plus tap water). We were well looked after (including two young teenagers) and made to feel welcome. Decent portions of posh nosh, good helpful advice about the food from the people who work there. I'll be back

Not the first time I have been to Vanilla which is a recommendation by itself. Food is very well presented and of good quality with fairly small portions - ideal for lunch. All in all a good value eating experience - ran out to £110 for four of us with 2 bottles of wine, one of which was free courtesy of the Toptable offer.

vanilla, was the 1st all white bar and black dining room i've ever been 2. it looked cool. The service was very good in ways and the menu was totally different from anything i have ever experienced and for that alone i would recommend you go...but...the service was such that in describing the food, they nearly sat down on top of you.. and nearly, just nearly touched the food on my plate. which freaked me out.every course. plus the pork was under cooked. lots of complimentary dishes.

Took my date there on Friday evening. What a find. really impressed. Fantastic service throughout the night. Nice bit of jazz in the restaurant, bit of old garage in the brilliant white cocktail bar afterwards. Really relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Surprised it wasn't more busy. Great place to take a girl, she'll be impressed. Scallop and blackpudding starter was lovely. Chocolate desert equally superb. Can't think of anything bad to say about the place. GO !

So, off we went, to Vanilla. Three old workmates for lunch. Whilst it was pretty quiet, the service and the food was excellent! The shallot soup was amazing...and amazingly presented. The special lunch deal is good value too. There is certainly an emphasis on quality and not quantity - but that's not a bad thing at lunchtime. Nice.

After reading numerous reviews of Vanilla and the great value lunch time menu we booked a table for 2pm. Despite the restaurant being dead at this time, the staff were exceptionally lovely. Every item on the set menu sounded delicious, and we were not disappointed, Scallop linguine -delicious, the piece de resistance - passion fruit, chocolate fondant! Will definitely return of an evening for dinner and drinks, hopefully with a little more ambiance this time around. Faultless.

The offer lunch menu at Vanilla was very good. Food was delicious, portions a little small but overall a very nice experience. We spent around £20 per head for 2 courses.
