We were bowled over buy the charm & beauty of the buildings, the main with a thatched roof. We were greeted by a hostess and ushered to a fabulous period room where drinks were served. Then into one of the two intimate dining rooms. Service throughout was attentive and intimate without being intrusive. The food was excellent, but let down by one of 2 lamb meals being overcooked and should not have left the kitchen. And my dairy intolerence was not properly catered for either. Will revisit!

Sampsons farm is 450 years old in an idyllic rural setting. The five choices per course, plus blackboard specials make much use is made of local produce, and provenance fully noted. Mark's mussels were excellent, and he was pleased with his pork in mushroom sauce. My duo of lamb was delicious, and perfectly pink. The service was charming and unobtrusive. Three courses with drinks and wine for £76 - great value. We'll go again and stay over. Sampsons was full on Thursday - tells you a lot!

Sampsons was a little of oasis of tranquility. A beautiful farmhouse, a warm welcome, attentive but not obtrusive service and most of all the most delicious and wonderful food that I'd had in a very long time. Local scallops, lamb, cheeses and even the wine were all stunning, beautifully cooked and presented. And amazing value for money. I am going back and taking friends! I cannot fault it.

nice and cosy. the menu was a bit limited for me as I'm a fussy eater but there was food I could eat. However, if you're not fussy there is plenty of choice. The restaurant is cosy, and was of interest to me mainly because my family are from the area.
