We were well recieved and served throughout the night. Food was fantastic and wide range of menu options. Although this restaurant was small, we did not feel cramped and there was enough space between diners. Parking is an issue as there are numerous pubs & restaurants nearby. Would definately go again to sample the other dishes!

I have been spoilt by having been to some of London's great Japanese restaurants so.. Mantra is a good local Japanese, good quality all round, just not great. I will go back.

Service a bit slow but the food was, yet again, what makes this place excellent. It was busy busy on the Friday evening - again a good sign that they are getting things right here. The tuna belly sashimi is to die for ! ch

A really wonderful restaurant, with fabulous food, great service and a brilliantly intimate atmosphere. The only surprise was when we added a tip, only to find that 12.5% service charge had already been included in the bill - don't double tip like we did!

The food at Mantra was excellent, could not fault it. Service was good and attentive. Would certainly eat there again.

Lovely ambiance, albeit a small restaurant, and the service was impeccable. Not the best value for money but not excessive pricing either, and I'm sure we'll be back for more. Oh, and the sushi was exquisite.

Ours was a quiet meal with friends, and so somewhere local with a decent range of options was what we were looking for. Mantra is a nice place, with a funky boudoir feel too it, with plush pink furniture. The staff were friendly and the ambience improved as the evening passed, with more diners in. My husband recommended the sashimi, in particular the tuna, which he said was some of the best he'd eaten. I'm veggie so it was less exciting as an experience for me, but still good. Worth trying.

We went to Mantra in St Albans for my birthday and had a lovely evening. The sushi and tempura we ordered was delicious and the service attentive. The menu wasn't vast but still had a decent selection. We will be going there again.

the food at mantra was excellent. the service was good, except the waitress kept topping up my husband's wine and not mine! they also tried to bring our main courses when we were still eating our starters which was very off putting. Nice restaurant, expensive for a japanese though

Had a fantastic meal at Mantra last night. I can particularly recommend the soft shelled crab tempura - it was absolutely delicious! The Sashimi platter was very good as well. Service was great.

Wonderful presentation and quality, slightly small sashimi portions but fabulous hand rolls - this was as good as the best we've been to in central London - a real gem of a restaurant and right on our door step. Not cheap, but considering the quality not over priced either. Owned by the same person as the Asia restaurant, which probably explains why both are particular favourites of ours now! Definitely worth a try, even for first timers with sushi

Excellent food great service and good value for money, would not hesitate in going back, good to have something independent based locally rather than the factory like experiences of the larger chains that dominate every high street, restaurant was very busy which added to the athmosphere.
