Reviews of Malmaison Brasserie - Newcastle

Malmaison's decor is the only thing that lets in down but if you like the gothic brothel look you'll be very happy. The food was really fantastic, I just had wild mushroom linguine but it was perfect. The unlimited wine wasn't exactly great quality but we didn't expect anything more than cheap plonk so weren't disappointed there! A great offer and would go again if they had any other offers on...

Malmaison Brasserie provided an interesting evening. The colour scheme is black and purple and the whole place dimly lit. Very distinctive but didn't do it for me. No greeting at reception so you had no idea where to go to the restaurant/bar/toilets. But the meal was excellent; imaginative, well presented and ample quantity. Lovely free bottle of wine and not by any means the cheapest they could get away with. Particular thanks to Gavin and Don, sommelier and waiter respectvely.

At Malmaison Newcastle the service was excellent & the food even better. This was the first time we had used toptable and we will definately be doing it again. The restaurant itself was stylishly laid out and welcoming. Service was excellent from start to finish and the staff could not do enough for you. The quality of the food was top notch with a real good choice available. In our party of 6 we had pigeon, venison, soup, risotto, mackrel and steak and we could not fault it! Wine excellent also

We went to to Malmasion Brasserie for my 25th Birthday with 4 other guests on the £16.95 and wine deal. As it was a money it was quiet so we had a cocktail in the bar. These were quite pricey bit it a nice way to start the meal. The food was fantastic, especially for the cost and the staff were brilliant - chatty, helpful and there when you needed them. I would def recommend this!!

My partner & I arrived at the Malmaison Brasserie to find the surroundings quite modern, but very dark. We chose quite a variety over our three courses, & were very satisfied with everything, including the service which was very efficient & inobtrusive.

Our meal at Malmaisson Brasserie was outstanding.A romatic venue, tastefully lit and full of ambience. Attentive service that was never intrusive. The food was incredible- a resticted menu but still enough to provide a genuine choice. Both of us ordered the same starter which turned out to be off- we were immediately offered an unrestriced choice from the a la carte menu at no extra cost. One of the best meals I have had in some time and I would not hesitate to recommend to brasserie to others.

Mal Maison Brasserie: Gorgeous food, perfect portion sizes, excellent price. The service was also very good, although our waiter was little over-attentive at times. Highly recommended!

I have been to the Malmaisson restaurant in Manchester - which would have taken some beating but my high regard for Malmaison ambience, quality of food and service was not dented by the Newcastle brasserie. Unfortunately the brasserie doesn't make the most of overlooking the beautiful Quayside but the sumptuous, locally sourced food more than made up for this. However, I was slightly disappointed that, having dropped hints of it being my fiancee's birthday, we didn't receive any birthday cake...

Service excellent, the variety of food was a bit poorer than usual, however the dishes that were server were of a high quality. Great to see the use of locally-sourced produce throughout.

Malmaison in Newcastle is a great place for a meal. Staff are attentive, and have worked hard to make sure that service is efficient and friendly, and for Malmaison, relatively quick. The sommelier was excellent.

beautiful food. The atmosphere is a little too dark

Malmaison Brasserie proved to be a very pleasant evening out. First drinks in the very comfortable, waiter service bar, with just the right amount of lighting and background music. Then through to the brasserie itself whre the staff were attentive without being overbearing. The menu is a little limited but the food was served at just the right pace and was excellent. The red mullet is to die for. All in all great value and would certainly return.

Booked a table for a birthday meal with my partner at Malmaison, Newcastle. We chose from the locally produced food menu which was very reasonably priced. The meal was lovely, the staff very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere very great. Lovely venue and will definitely be making another visit soon. Have recommended it to friends and family.
