a really lovely place to eat in the middle afternoon of a saturday - the service was really lovely and we will definitely return one day soon for its amazing dishes!!

We had lunch here and really enjoyed the meal. Well prepared and presented, fantastic value and under £10 for wine main course (we had the burgers) and coffee. Attractive location.Rather strange very low chairs felt as if my chin was on the table!

The malmaison liverpool is a beautiful building and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately if you want anything from the set menu you'll have to be early. We booked for 7.30 and they had half of our order unavailable! This is very disappointing as it is only a small menu anyway.

The Mal in Liverpool is a great hotel though I was underwhelmed by the restaurant - I just wanted a quick meal and couldn't get the time I wanted [even though it was half empty on arriving at the booked time on a Wednesday night] and the service was pleasant enough but slow - to get through a (very tasty) burger and a 'chocolate orange fondant' [that didn't taste of orange, despite the waitress's claim] took about 90 minutes from the time I arrived.

Competent cooking of mainly safe dishes. Special mention to the sommelier who was conversant in all subjects ranging from wine to film and it was probably his charm which lead us to spend over £100 in wine.

Malmaison is very dark inside, rather gothic. Although it was empty when we arrived we waited 25 minutes for our starters which as they were cold should have been available almost immediately. Main course also took some time to appear. Specials were not as good value as advertised as all the side dishes were charged separately. Average restuarant average meal poor value for money

This was our second visit to the Malmaison's Brasserie in Liverpool and it was just as good. The food was delicious (particularly my 'Plaice en cocotte'). Even the side dishes like the zucchini frites and the mashed potatoes were fabulous. The sommelier was unpretentious and friendly. She was completely unfazed by the fact that we wanted a red wine because my husband was having lamb (even though I was having fish) and recommended a gorgeous Australian Pinot Noir to complement both.
