Fantastic experience at Hambleton Hall! There was nothing to criticise. The staff were marvellous and very thoughtful towards the needs of my 80 year old mother. The best meal I have tasted with brilliant service.

I took my husband for a birthday lunch at Hambleton Hall and it was a real treat. Service was great - very attentive without being overbearing. Food excellent - we had the tasting menu - only criticism was for including too much 'foam'... Expensive but worth it!!!

We went to Hambleton Hall to celebrate my wife's 40th Birthday. We had drinks on the terrace before lunch with beautiful views overlooking Rutland Water and the surrounding countryside. Both the food and service were excellent and the lunchtime menu is very good value. I would certainly recommend Hambleton Hall.

I have to say I have eaten in lots of place around the world and that meal was one of the best, we had the tasting menu which was around 5 courses of which the desserts (7 different ones) were simply amazing, the portions were perfect as you could eat everything but not feel bloated, the Michelin stars are awarded for a reason and this place displayed this perfectly as the food was fantastic!!

A quite splendid lunch at Hambleton Hall and excellent value for this quality. The food and service probably warrant 10 but I've got to keep something in reserve! Comparable with Gordon Ramsey in NY or Michel Severin in Toulouse (both Michelin 2 Rosette), but in a lovely setting.

I was impressed with Hambleton Hall. A lot of effort has obviously gone into the food. We decided to try the tasting menu, priced at £65 each. Each course was presented like art on a plate, and the taste did not disappoint either, although there was a fondness for that trend of making everything into foam. The highlight was the mosaic plate. The low point was the coffee. A "cappuccino" is white coffee with foam on top, and lemon ginger tea turned out ot be water infused with a piece of ginger

Really good food, friendly attentive staff in a great setting. Went with 2 children (8 & 11) and although there are no child portions etc it was a friendly atmosphere with great food.

Excellent lunchtime meal at Hambleton Hall. The food, service, ambience & setting all perfect. Coffee & petit fours in the sun on the terrace overlooking Rutland water added the final flourish. Will certainly visit again.

Overpriced, over-rated roast beef Sunday lunch at Hambleton Hall. One: long delay between arrival and ordering drinks. Two: pedestrian freebies with cocktails. Three: no choices on a £45 3 course set menu with cold starter and cold desert, latter of little consequence. Limited choice on a £50 set menu or £40 2 course menu. Four: excessive delay serving coffee. Five: petit fours (chocolates) were unimpressive. In favour: delicious Riesling and perfect view over small garden and Rutland Water.

Hambleton Hall a beautiful setting especially on a sunny day. However we did not expect the kind of service that never filled your glass, never asked until the end of the meal if you were enjoying it and rushed you through the courses eventually asking you to leave the table as they wanted to set up. This was only 3pm having sat down for lunch at 2.10pm. It felt more like a cafeteria.

Hambleton Hall is a haven in restaurant-barren East Midlands for excellence in country house dining. Sunday lunch at Hambleton and pre-lunch drinks on the patio in a fine "cottage-style" garden setting is an occasion to repeat as often as the purse string allows. £45 for a no-choice 3-course menu including coffee and petit fours is not for the fussy (traditional roast beef); it takes another fiver or so to include a choice of a fish main course. And relax afterwards with views of Rutland Water
